Medziotojas
Doh! 1 Euro = 89p If I mind right it was somewhere between 60-70p when the Euro was introduced.

Medziotojas
The Ukraine and Hungary have already been bailed out. Is Britain going to be the next country to go with a begging bowl to the IMF? Prices of imported goods are likely to soar with the falling pound. Good news for exports but unfortunately the global scale of the situation will negate the one possible plus point. Hopefully we'll begin to see an increase in people buying/selling locally produced goods instead of shipping products half way round the world to be processed. Skunnered
Given the state of the UK finances, in about a year to 18 months from now watch for an even lower £ and high interest rates and high inflation.
Nigel Bridgman-Elliot
Won't this mean that we'll see an increase in manufactoring in the UK due to it being cheaper to make stuff here rather than imports ? (And thus more jobs..)
Skunnered
Theoretically yes, but manufacturing make up only 16% of the UK's exports so it would need to increase by a huge amount to make a real difference.
Medziotojas
^Also, it's difficult to export goods when there's no confidence in the market. You need end-users for the products.
Styumpie
^^^^ When the alternatives the tories, can you blame them? ^^^^ I assume you think i'm a conservative voter well I would not vote, nor ever have voted for any of the current political UK parties, and Yes I would blame them had they been in power and had let the same circumstances occur. Do you think the Tories would have let the boom run on so long, leading to this same disaster we face now?

Nigel Bridgman-Elliot
We don't have to manufactor to export do we, can't we just sell to our own folk ?

Skunnered
How's Forvik doing in this recession? What is the current rate for the Gulde? I believe they are having difficulty getting their exports out of their country due to bad weather.
