paulb
what is Shetland coming to when they even nick post boxes. anyone seeing a couple of shifty looking people staggering down the road with a big heavy red box should call the police. the suspects may have bad backs. Making assumptions ... its either been a 'fun' or folk in a bad way looking to steal cash posted in Christmas cards?

Para Handy
Well that’s a first I have heard of post boxes set on fire. maybe someone thinks the postpersons are still on strike. And are doing the job themselves
Ghostrider
It wisna me. I hope I have more intelligence than waste time carting around a half hundredweight of iron box, to very probably gain nothing more than so much waste paper. trout
^^ Yes, indeed. Some apparent 'funs' really are nothing other than sheer vandalism. 'Da pöst' in itself really is something other altogether! I remember living in Aberdeen and coming out our front door to be met by two policemen. I was hungover and looked at them asking me if I was living there and whether I knew 'me'! Standing there with my, at that time of the morning inebriated brain state, I could wonder no other than to wonder "hmm". It all ended up being that some scagheads from Torry had been going up our street kicking doors in and nicking mail - presumably to pilfer cash and cards and whatever. Anyway. It came to court and thank goodness they pleaded guilty prior. What good I'd have been was pretty self evident to those two policemen having not even known my mail had been nicked or that they'd found it in a girls back pack halfway up our road!
