whiskin
Can anyone tell me if they have got any black bags supplied to them this year? We haven't had any and someone said that the council was not going to provide them now. Is this right?
Ghostrider
They handed them out around the Ness 2-3 weeks ago, just a roll of 50 though I think, not the usual 100.
wastafirth 01
We got ours the end of last week (westside) 52 bags and not any better quality than the cheap ones I've been buying from Tesco....perhaps this is where the SIC could be saving money. I certainly won't be giving them £9 for another roll!
Ironwithin
I dont see why the SIC should be providing black bags. People should be providing their own.
Ghostrider
I dont see why the SIC should be providing black bags. People should be providing their own. They could, for an appropriate reduction in Council Tax.
crofter
I dont see why the SIC should be providing black bags. People should be providing their own. I agree. I don't see why they should be providing a truck to collect black bags either, it was far better in the good old days when it all went in an old quarry hol or ower da banks. piggywiggie
Ours arrived today. Still have a few from last year. And LOADS of recycling bags....
JustMe
Been wondering about this. Council decided to reduce the number of black bags per household from 100 to 50 so where are my 50?. If I am entitled to them then I want them!.
unlinkedstudent
@ Ghostie (and I'm in thumping length if You disagree ), a Local Authority isn't obliged to provide rubbish bags. Your Council Tax pays for the collection only. No doubt the SIC could counter-argue that staff wages, cost of diesel, etc., has increased and if it wasn't for Council Tax being capped, you'd have to pay more. What would, IMHO, be fairer would be to provide LESS black bags to country folk and none to town folk, bearing in mind that town folk have the recycling scheme. And don't go throwing the argument (Or You can wash up) at me that they've sent a precedent; they've cut other things (like dog poo bags) last year. piggywiggie
Why provide none for us toonies?
tlady
I would question how many town folk actually "need" black bags? I, like a lot of folk, purchased a wheelie bin, (best buy ever!!) and I buy a roll of black bags from Tescos for a couple of pounds, does me fine. HN38
^^We done that to.
piggywiggie
I don't have a wheelie bin. We put our bags in a big wooden crate we have. Stops the birds and wind getting to it.
unlinkedstudent
Why provide none for us toonies? Because don't you get recycling bags whereas us in the country don't?
sweetsmucks
Unlinked they've cut other things (like dog poo bags) last year. Why on earth should the council provide dog owners with poo bags?? If someone wants to own a dog surely they should be prepared to buy poo bags for it.
