  1. I'm neigh complaining tho as horse meat is hardly likely to give you the gallops now is it?
  2. In a head to head sit down meal i have to say the Fort gets the nod ahead of Frankies for me...the last two times i have been to Frankies i have come out feeling underwhelmed with the hype regarding the place.
  3. I have witnessed mass hysteria and greediness this past week that makes me stunned. There shall be plenty of people the world over who will have zilch this Christmas and we squabble over sprouts and the like...
  4. Bargain Centre's roof looks damaged to me.
  5. Peat are you thinking of the times before the introduction of the Sunniva in 87? (ie the Clair from Shetland every second day)....just for clarifying of course!
  6. Didn't Concorde once touch the runway at Sumburgh in the distant past??
  7. Are Serco going to enforce this "no sleeping rough policy"? are they going to physically chain/handcuff people to the adorable recliners?. are they going to get the bouncers sorry "security staff" to scoop people off the floor in the dead of the night? Ruidh what is the score regarding this matter? Thanks!
  8. Kavi i think your spot on they obviously don't care or it would never have gone this far down the road. Serco say the RMT won't respond to their request to sort this out, and the RMT say exactly the same thing about Serco. So by my reckoning someone is telling porkies....who's got your vote people? Unfortunately Serco have dug their trench and have the helmets on so this could take a while to sort out.
  9. Perhaps Serco have a plan to keep the service going during a strike, maybe it involves some of the freight vessels Eastern European crew being temporarily moved to cover (perhaps crew on leave coming in), or perhaps Mr Garrett is going to be like Capt. Jack Sparrow and take command himself. Either way Serco are now in a position where they should get back to talking and getting this solved or the government should step in and insist they do or face the prospect of losing their precious contract.
  10. Have to say Serco's silence at the recent announcements is deafening....
  11. Usually up around 6am and that's when the internet is lightning quick, rampant even..you can stream HD videos on you tube in seconds and do so much more, great if your an early starter or an insomniac but not if you like you lie ins... It is awful at night usually going wonky from 6-7 onwards every night without fail.
  12. Forget Union this and that, the facts are there could be strike action so now Serco should have the decency to come to the table for talks and see if a solution can be thrashed out. I myself fully support what the crew are fighting for and wish them all the very best. The ball is firmly in Serco's court now.
  13. Good work RFR937, well done for this. I cannot wait to read the reply from Serco to these allegations, it should be interesting to see what spin comes from them this time.
  14. So i did, so i did...Shetland Arts could do with her magical powers to get them out of this mess...
  15. Aaron Foord i live in Lerwick and can tell you my vote is no. Simply put the promise was no more cash would be asked for so that's how it should remain. Fair's fair, let Shetland Arts sort this out for themselves whatever way they need to be it having to get outside help (ie a loan). Agree with above posters that the honeymoon will end eventually so what happens after that?, and further more Jaws, Gremlins, Home Alone & god forbid Lawrence of Arabia are not going to pack the place out now are they? Sod it they may as well go the whole hog and get the Great Escape and Dr Zhivago onboard too....
  16. If those points above prove accurate Serco are the modern day equivalent of Dick Turpin and his bunch of Highwaymen, absolute shocking to think you will be "fleeced" with charges like that. I hope extra planes will be arranged for the stampede at Sumburgh.
  17. The ferries now are going to be a place where you cannot stretch out on a bench as you could in the past if you were travelling without a cabin. But who the hell is going to sit upright in a recliner in the forward bar on a bad night? That would surely make you feel worse i reckon...if the seating at the shop has gone the way of the dreaded recliners there will be hardly any escape from the damn things! Hardly a gushing step forward in comfort more the opposite.
  18. Just had earlier THE most abysmal cone of chips EVER from the Happy Haddock. The "chips" (well the few i had in my cone apart from hard crumbs that is) were dry, bland, looked like reheated leftovers from the day before and tasted like cardboard, suffice to say the rest got chucked in the bin...all that joy in a cone for an increased price of £1.10. I had given them the benefit of the doubt as just last week had similar chips in a supper, so a word to the gaffer there is going to be on my agenda, as well as a rant on here.
  19. Yes was having a good shifty at this yesterday and without being an expert on these kind of things i have to say these roadworks are one of the most spectacularly stupidest i have seen in quite some time. Widening the pavement at that point is madness as it will create a bottleneck. What is the Roads Dept's obsession with wide pavements? It's not as if it's union street with hundreds of people bustling past every minute... Even the pavement at that sheltered housing scheme next to the Lerwick Hotel built some years back are massively wide, goodness the pavement must be at least 10-12 feet wide at one point! [/i]
  20. Are Serco now beginning to show their true colours? If the staffing levels on board are to high i would of thought it only right that appropriate cuts should also be made to senior management onshore as well in these times of austerity...
  21. If your looking for da Polis they tend to frequent the Happy Haddock most days...
  22. So if i read the report on the Shetland News correctly some chunk of the front bar on board is going to be changed over to the dreaded reclining seats. I can't say i'm thrilled about that as there not the most comfy of things, and besides sitting on one of them on a bouncy night up forward does not sound like fun to me. The gaming space is getting the section of the forward bar's seats that the recliners are replacing.
  23. Went last night for the first time, overall impression was one of nice but nothing special. The cinema is fab, comfy chairs, crisp picture, and sound. I do however feel that i am struggling to understand where the money went to build the place as it's pretty bare inside - did they run out of money for pictures on the walls etc? People's handprints upstairs i guess are a cheap way of putting something on the walls i guess!
  24. Like Kavi has said promotion from within would have been the sensible way to go. Risky appointments which this is are a gamble at best, and one if it goes wrong Shetland can ill afford.
