I dinna ken a gritterman but my man has to go out before da gritters if der ony o dem is broken doon . 5 year ago he wis workin till haf eleven at night !!!

If the temperature goes too low saat doesna melt da snow . they have to use a mixture o saat and grit . !

Don't forget the mechanics who may be called at any time to repair gritters . Some live outwith Lerwick and have to drive to town in non 4x4 !!!!

Re gritters . We were in Strichen 2 weeks ago . Small village not as big as Scalloway and the gritters ran constantly thru night ! Gritter came in here lunch time just before we went to town and I wish we hadn't . they obviously just came in to have there lunch drove off without laying anything down !

We bought jumping beans for our grandsons advent calendar . Unfortunately there is no instructions in packet ! I seem to remember you had to hold them in your hands to warm them up before they would jump . The ones we bought is encased in a plastic tube not sure if we have to take them out or what , does anyone know !

Saturday 14th November is World Diabetes Day . We are holding a Fund Raiser at Freefield Centre 10am till 2pm . Hope to see you all there

I agree . just flicked channels and think its excellent idea for charity fund raiser . Might suggest it for Juvenile Diabetes Research .

With vaccinations underway to frontline workers does anyone know the numbers of people actually diagnosed with it ?

I dont think anyone is naive enough to think walking cures Diabetes . It does help to keep blood / sugar levels right . We are a group of people all of us has family or friends with tihs cronic life threatning disease . We are trying to raise awareness and money to find a cure . Have you all seen the II magazine ? Pity Malcom wasnt at the start of walk he would have got photos of all the walkers setting off . Not to worry its a good spread . Saturday 14th November is National Diabetes day . We are having a Jumble sale in Freefield centre on the day . If anyone has a few hours to help out you would be most welcome .
