  11. I reckon it would be the Eastern Airways Saabs holding overhead while waiting for Scatsta to open.
  12. We had lunch at the St Magnus Bay Hotel yesterday - superb food! All three courses were perfect - main courses were very big portions. The 'Bestest ever sticky toffee pudding' was indeed the bestest ever sticky toffee pudding
  13. Just got this email.. "FLYBE LAUNCHES 72-HOUR SALE FROM SHETLAND 25% OFF THE FARE FOR EVERY SEAT ON EVERY FLIGHT Flybe is launching a September Sale this weekend with 25% off all fares on every seat on every flight to and from Shetland. This offer is for bookings made from Friday morning (24 September) until midnight on Sunday (26 September) and is valid on every Flybe flight operated by Loganair from Shetland to Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Kirkwall. The discount applies to the fare element and it is in addition to the 40% discount available through the Air Discount Scheme for registered ADS scheme members via www.flybe.com/ads. This offer is available on every flight – there’s no need to travel between specific dates in order to qualify for the discount, as the fare for every single one of our seats on these three routes has been reduced by 25%. It’s an ideal opportunity to book a trip, whether you’re flying to Aberdeen to see friends, to Glasgow to see Sheryl Crow or Van Morrison at the SECC and have a shopping trip to Silverburn whilst you’re there, visit relatives in Inverness, see the Scottish Opera in Edinburgh or fly to Orkney. Including ADS discount and the extra 25% off every fare on every flight, you can now fly to Aberdeen for as little as £23.35 one-way including all taxes if you book before midnight on Sunday evening. So don’t delay – book today at www.flybe.com or www.flybe.com/ads for Air Discount Scheme members. We look forward to welcoming you aboard a Flybe flight operated by Loganair in the near future"
  14. We're just back from Leuchars - awesome airshow you put on there! Swept wing F3s looked great. Typhoon display was pretty impressive too. Wish we got a bit more low-flying action up here..
  15. And du wid a done weel to tak your own advice afore slaggin my wife aff in another thread on here.
  16. IIRC it was about £170 cheaper. Hydro had no stock left and said it would take a month to get more in. Had they had it in stock and the price difference was £50ish I would have bought it from the Hydro shop instead.
  17. Cool I think I only paid the £5 as I forgot to select the 'free supersaver delivery option'
  18. I bought a 40" Samsung LCD TV from Amazon last year - delivery was a fiver. I paid for it Monday night and was watching it by Friday lunchtime The link to Amazon just mentions 30kg as the weight limit - I think their example of the 26" telly would refer to the weight of a big old lump of a CRT TV.
  19. Try Ewen Johnson Shooting Supplies in Bigton. Could probably buy direct from him at a lower cost...
  20. Other than a digital slr camera from The Camera Centre (cheaper than several places online) I can't remember the last non-food item I bought in the toon. Not so recently, I went to the computer shop (now pet shop) to buy a couple of bits of software. Not in stock.. but instead, the guy serving gave me a computer magazine and said to look in there as it would be far cheaper to buy online No wonder it's shut! I attempted to buy an LCD telly last year. Bolts were around £100 dearer than the Hydro shop. The Hydro shop didn't have one left of the model I wanted but said they could get it for me... in a month or so.. Instead I tried Amazon - another £100 cheaper. Paid for it Tuesday morning and received it Friday morning. Shipping was a fiver. I did get a bargain in Harry's however. A couple of limited edition F1 diecast cars were on sale at £35 - I bought em both and sold them on ebay for a £120 profit. So it ain't all bad on the street
  21. Very safe... unguarded planes sitting there overnight... staff could be blackmailed into sneaking something over the fences or through the access gates.. Terrorists will always find a way... Please note - I am not a terrorist
  22. The "Mach Loop" in Wales. Scenery was great too. http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd288/crieffy/D300/_JJM9784.jpg http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd288/crieffy/D300/_JJM9803.jpg
  23. From Flybe's website... Adverse Weather Conditions - Shetland / Inverness Due to the adverse snow conditions in Shetland, passengers travelling on the following routes to and from Sumburgh operated by Flybe’s franchise partner, Loganair, are being advised not to travel to the airport, as the roads are impassable. Passengers booked to travel on any flights which Loganair has been forced to cancel today due to adverse weather conditions who are unable to travel or who do not wish to travel today due to the snow are being offered one of the following three options : a) Refund for the flight affected Rebook for travel on/before 14 Mar2010 subject to space being available on the aircraft or c) Rebook for travel at any time on the same route upon payment of any difference in fare. The above also applies to Flybe passengers with bookings to travel today to and from Inverness.
  24. Dunna be daft! Hard enough to see an otter, let alone get a photo of one I was just very fortunate that day. Not that particular photo, though I've tried others in the past. Might try again next year if it falls in the right category
  25. Ness otters. http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd288/crieffy/D300/_JJM0114.jpg They're occasionally seen crossing the runway to get from coast to coast - bit quicker than swimming around Sumburgh Head.
