peeriebryan
Any Tull fans out there? I've been going through a Jethro Tull resurgence recently. One of my favourite bands as a nipper but I haven't listened to them in a few years. I'd forgotten how good they were. Proper prog/rock/folk Here's a few good quality bootleg videos I found on youtube of a 1976 concert which was recorded on the day I was born! - 31/7/76. (YouTube won't let these videos be embedded in the forum, so you'll have to click the links) What a band! Enjoy the gig! Hambone
Good call. Tull are a most excellant band. These videos actually come from the Tullavision bootleg which was taken from the in concert video feed to big screens in the venue. I've got a copy somewhere. The only gig I saw at the Glasgow Apollo, before it was pulled down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_VvNqbqXo8 Anderson in full one legged flute playing riposte[/url]
Fjool
Tulll are great. I spent an evening a couple of weeks ago watching their vids on YouTube. Haven't time to watch your links just now but I will definately later. Also look out for 'Aqualung', a tribute band; they're pretty good. Their singer is missing Anderson's natural flamboyance but they still do a pretty good job.
McFly
I was a bit of a Tull fan as a young 'un. I might have to dig out some old LPs now. Are those clips from a gig at Madison Square Gardens? If so I think I've got the orignal LP at home somewhere
Hambone
Audio: AC3 224 kb/s and/or LPCMVideo: MPEG 2 720x480 7800-8000 kbpsSystem: NTSC 29.97 fps This is taken from a video feed for the Tullavision screen at Tampa Stadium,Florida, July 31, 1976. Video and audio are excellent considering the date ofthis show. Brought to you by "The Tullavision Crew" with special thanks to Laufi. Please note there is a watermark in the upper right corner that is presentthroughout the DVD. I don't find it particularly bothersome but purists beware.Only about half the concert (first half, 62 min) is included and it is advertisedas "Part One" although part two may not actually exist. Overall this is anoutstanding DVD and should be well worth the download for Tull fans, howeverkeep in mind this was not filmed to be shown as a concert video but for displayon the big screen above the stage so that those in the far away seats could havesome closeup views. There is much more info on the DVD as well as bonus tracks.Below is an excerpt from the press release. Enjoy. BTW: Artwork is here --> http://www.thetradersden.org/forums...ead.php?t=18108================================= Some details about the video: We got the recording on a 3/4" beta u-matic video tape, which is abroadcast format of the 70's. The tape -a master tape- was recorded fromthe video mag feed of a 1976 Tullavision show (Tampa Stadium, Florida, July 31).It is pro-shot and has soundboard audio and it is -even if probably not properlystored in the last 29 years- in overall excellent condition. The 62 mins. tape wasprofessionally transferred to digital betacam (recent broadcast format),the audio has already been professionally re-mastered. The tracklist is: 01: (Quartet Intro)02: Thick As A Brick (excerpt)03: Wond'ring Aloud04: Crazed Institution05: Instrumental/Drum Solo06: To Cry You A Song07: A New Day Yesterday08: Flute Solo09: Living In The Past & Brick Instrumental, A New Day Yesterday Reprise10: Too Old To Rock'n'Roll Too Young To Die!11: Minstrel In The Gallery12: Beethoven's Ninth Symphony (excerpt)13: (End Titles)

Ghostrider
Jethro Tull! You guys are living in the past. Sorry.......I couldn't resist it Definitely a blast from the past....I've not knowingly heard them since 78/79 when they comprised much of the soundtrack of life for those using the 5th/6th Year Common Room in the JC Hostel. Maybe I'll be able to listen to them now with an unbiased ear, getting repeatedly told anything and everything else was sh*te, and if you dared disagree you were risking a head flush down the handiest kharzi, kinda put you off believing they could be much good at all. muddybay-kyebeoy
I saw them in Faroe a couple of years ago at a festival and they were good entertainment, even still. The bill for the festival was Jethro Tull, Kiri Te Kanawa, and Fiddlers' Bid!
Ghostrider
The bill for the festival was Jethro Tull, Kiri Te Kanawa, and Fiddlers' Bid! Imagine that lot all on one stage doing a joint number, each in their own style! 8O
