EM
I'm getting the following when I use the Shetlink search facility:We're sorry...... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now. See Google Help for more information.Searching directly from Google works fine, so I assume this must be something to do with the search originating from the Shetlink server and not associated with my own network. trout
Yeah, the top right search facility is a google/site based search - google will stop users from searching too quickly consecutively or if it thinks an IP is attempting too many connections /slash/ a mixture of both. It's a 'feature' of that service.
EM
^Yep, but I'm finding that it is currently doing it for me always, not just sometimes. Is it working for you?

EM
It has been refusing to cooperate for some time. I first noticed it several days ago, but didn't immediately mention it as, like you, I thought it might cure itself.
crofter
seems common, if you do a google search... oh...
Ghostrider
Its still giving that same Google message page when you try to use the search. ie. this: http://www.google.co.uk/custom?domains=www.shetlink.com&q=Flibbertygibbet&sitesearch=www.shetlink.com&sa=Search&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&safe=active&cof=GALT%3A%23DD6900%3BGL%3A1%3BDIV%3A%23006699%3BVLC%3A663399%3BAH%3Acenter%3BBGC%3AFFFFFF%3BLBGC%3AFFFFFF%3BALC%3A006699%3BLC%3A006699%3BT%3A000000%3BGFNT%3A006699%3BGIMP%3A006699%3BLH%3A50%3BLW%3A146%3BL%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.shetlink.com%2Fimages%2Flogo.png%3BS%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.shetlink.com%3BFORID%3A1&hl=en Time to kick Google in the hrmm hrmmms methinks. crofter
getting the same annoying google "error" page from the search box on http://www.shetland.gov.uk
EM
The workaround for dealing with these site specific search boxes failing is to perform the search directly from Google while limiting it to the specific domain. So to search Shetlink for a term you should add the following text to the main Google query box:site:shetlink.com Similarly, to search the SIC site:site:shetland.gov.uk
