Procession will be through Cunningsburgh with the burning at Mail beach. More info on parking etc. at smuha.org.

Events for the day of SMUHA 2012

 

The 2012 SMUHA will take place on Friday 9th March with Guizer Jarl Kevin Adamson from Cunningsburgh leading a Squad of 38 members including 11 women. Kevin is representing Bjorn “Holfast†Brynjolfson (Bjorn of Mousa). This years galley is named ‘Holdfast’. There are 503 guizers taking part in this years SMUHA with 5 Halls open for the evening frivolities - Gulberwick, Cunningsburgh, Sandwick Social Club, Bigton & the Ness Boating Club. The schedule of events is as follows:

 

07:00 Delivery of Bill to the Cunningsburgh shop

09:20 Jarl’s Squad visit Sound Primary School, Lerwick

10:10 Jarl’s Squad visit Sandwick Primary School

11:00 Jarl’s Squad visit Cunningsburgh Primary School

11:40 Jarl’s Squad march from Cunningsburgh School to Cunningsburgh Shop

12:50 Jarl’s Squad pose with Galley at Sumburgh Hotel

14:30 Jarl’s Squad visit Dunrossness Primary School

15:10 Jarl’s Squad visit Overtonlea Care Home

18:50 Guizers Muster at Cunningsburgh School

19:30 Light-up of torches & procession south along main road to burning site at Mail Beach

21:00 (approx.) Halls open for guizers

 

Please note the main road south will be closed for the duration of the procession.

 

The Galley will accompany the Jarl Squad throughout the day until approx 3:20pm when it will positioned to the Church of Scotland car park opposite Cunningsburgh Primary School to be prepared for burning.
