Its a shame really but a fact of the current economic climate I suppose. Amazon, iTunes, Tesco, etc are all part of our lives now & when it comes to the crunch every penny counts. It also seems that the Shetland people will buy there big & expensive items locally to make returns easier but are not so worried about a CD or DVD. How true this is we'll have to see? JustMe Posted February 11, 2011 Report Share Posted February 11, 2011 If it is true then it is indeed sad news but I have to hold my hand up and admit that the last time I bought anything from Clives was when I was using a gift token several years ago. My CDs and DVDs are mainly bought from Amazon although sometimes I use other on-line places including e-bay and more recently I have bought a few downloads from a musicians sales site. In this case Arkade where I bought an album for £4.99. But I think that for increasing numbers of people it is so much more convenient to go browsing on-line for CDs and DVDs rather that visiting a specialist like Clives or even searching bargains in Tesco. It is not all Tescos fault, folk choose to go there, for what ever reason. As here, if local shops close, it seems Tesco or Sainsburys will take em over. sga Posted February 12, 2011 Report Share Posted February 12, 2011 I agree that clives is fairly competitivley priced, especially the cd's and usually reccomend him to freinds who think he is more expensive. I dont buy many cd's or dvd's and sometimes buy from the likes of amazon. If I really cant wait the few days it takes to deliver something from online and sometimes it takes over a week even with paing extra for first class I'll go to Clives. He has a good selection for the size of his shop and as has been already said, can be just as cheap as the bigger stores. Unlike another shop in town that also sells computer games I find that he always has the latest titles in stock and not shelves off games a few years old still on sale for well over their release price. I know you cant beat online shops for convinience, especially if you dont go into Lerwick very often but sometimes its nice to just go in and browse.
