A quick scan of the letters pages of the Shetland News and statements issued by councillors to the media is all that is required in this respect. I had just logged in to say the same myself! Anyway, I don't see any point in going over the same old information again and again and trying to second guess how it will be interpreted by the lawyers. Is the emboldened sentence genuine advice from a GDC registered dental surgeon or is it merely the deluded ranting of someone who has an opinion on everything and knowledge of...well...not very much, it would appear. ^^^ The thing urinating most people off, I suspect, is the fact that this sort of thing seems to happening time after time after time and nobody seems to (a) be accountable or ( learning from past mistakes. Getting there, MuckleJ, but not quite. Whilst I agree that it is wrong to pillory councillors who had little to do with decisions made before their election to the council there are still decisions being made which many of us find unpalatable. There are people behind the scenes advising the councillors i.e. council staff who, by and large, have a greater longevity than elected members. It is they who should have a better grasp of the bigger picture (within their own field of expertise) and they from whom the councillors should be seeking advice. If lessons have been learned from this fiasco and if those lessons are going to be acted upon then yes, we are coming closer to closure of this whole sorry mess. No doubt there will still be some people (possibly me included) shouting about the 'missing' £400k - that's aye going to happen, no matter how large or small the sum involved.
