Looking at the court next week of the criminal cases there are 37 folk up of these 7 are eastern Europeans making them 19% so almost a fifth of the folk. For criminal charges there are 54 of these 13 are by Eastern Europeans so 24% nearly a quarter. Fair enough they may not be guilty but on the percentage of eastern Europeans here in percentage of the population it does seem like a rather high number. No ones telling me that they make up a 5th of Shetland population! What an utter disgrace! I am actually shocked, but thinking about it i probally should not have been suprised, more money wasted. They will probally say lessons will be learned but they never are.

There are tonnes of assaults, a lot of them against women, plus there has been atleast one stabbing.

I look whos up in court every week and there are allways a lot more eastern european names than you would think there would be in comparison to the percentage who are here. Plus just read a Shetland Times any week.

Yes dogs against drugs have definatley caused a shift from safer drugs like cannabis to less safe like heroin as they are harder to detect and give the dealer a bigger payback for the risk. The dogs should be scrapped and the money used in a better way.

Its the minority ruining it for the majority again. I am totally against it. If I was an alcoholic no cost would put me off and if I could not afford it I would steal, rob ect to get it.

Scientists who are hell bent on saying the world is warming dont seem tohave an answer for Medieval Warm Period (AD 800–1300) when the vikingswere able to settle in North Greenland in areas now covered with ice(didnt realise long boats really had huge dirty engines putting outtonnes of pollution), they just like to ignore it as it does not fit inwith what they are trying to peddle to the public. It seems to me that most of it is a big scam to get money out of taxpayers. Most of it is exaggerated and data that does not fit is ignored or tried to be devalued. Maybe the great plan is to make teaching as bad as possible thus only the very best can go to UNI so that you do not suffer the brain drain and young folk leaveing, actually thats not so bad an idea.

styles, did du read da post at da top o dis page? school rolls are goin to increase, if onythin, ower da next few years! as far as i'm concerned, i quite lik da fact dat we lots o good peerie schools, but i realise dat it canna be viable to keep dem aa open, an so some will hae ta be closed. da difficulty is decidin which wans arna viable on mair, despite dere bein a few which seem fairly obvious t maist. its a very touchy subject, an so it should be! on da idder hand tho, dere's lotsa idder places dat da cooncil could mak savins instead o closin da schools (daft roondaboots to name one) but dis isna da place t go troo dem aa! I dont really care, its about time that the money looks like the end. All i understand is that it costs 30 milion and I am a pure blood shetlander, none o that foreign turd, so i atleast hope that the weirdos that come here will try and be the same?...

With the amazing roads/transport links and dwindeling school roles plus the crazy amount we spend here on education each year (30 million) I want as many schools as possible closed as its just not economical or practical with so many small schools. An example was the Quarf school they were all up in arms about closeing it, it did not get closed but then had to close due to other factors and they all had to go to Cunningsburgh, but then they all admit that it was actually better and is working just fine. Tonnes of schools were closed in the past in the south end and the same things were said but they all worked out just fine.

They should shut as many schools as they can.

£30,000,000 is spent a year on education in Shetland, its a crazy ammount. Schools have to close. Just hope the Council this time have the guts to do so.

They should get rid of the post as its not needed.

Do we need a council assistant chief executive on £65K? We did not need one before and no one seems to be able to stay what the person in the position actually does. Plus how many other were able to apply for the job in the first place? I would rather have the money saved, especially as it seems to be being paid at the moment for a person not at their desk for 3 months and it does not seem to be a loss to the Council.

Mines does this about once or twice a week. All I do is turn the box off then off at the wall. Wait for a few minutes then turn it back on and it sets back to Scotland. It can be really annoying at times though.

When goverments harp on about global warming ect, no one speaks up about the elephant in the room overpopulation, so i am for anything that says it will kill people but swine flu seems to be lacking in that regard.

There is a condition on the salmon farmers licence that they have to move if the north voe carries on.
