  1. Politically_Right, appears to be politically_wrong in this.. His extensive research and the legal advice garnered (where it was required) does not stand up.. Never mind - when someone looks at the 2011 Census results 100 years from now, I wonder if they will think, what became of that Conspiracy Theorist
  2. ^ I can shout to. You are (I think) an ABSOLUTE PINTIL I hope the possible fine doesn't cause you undue hardship.
  3. Dinna fret aboot da wedder fok. If it buckets doon wi rain, you'll a be able to shelter in 'Harry's' He'll be open...
  4. And thank god, Sanjay's glasses are not on squint in this photo. Where's Lagan/Tormore's left hand?
  5. ^ Yer right again Ghosty. This is worse than Murdoch
  6. ^ mm interesting goings on.. Let's hope after 31st March 2011, we get the 'Old Shetland News Banner' back once more, otherwise (at first glance anyway, in my opinion) the website will lack any real authoritive comparison to the power of The Shetland Times...
  7. So what has happened to the old, recognised Shetland News heading? One that has been in existence for well over a century. Does this copywrite belong to the Mortimer Manson Estate and further permission to use, has now been withdrawn? The new heading does (in my opinion) seem amateurish. The content however is very good, just as previous.
  8. How dare they go and spend heaps o Dollars on a 'Clown Outfit' for the newly appointed Civic Head. Has anybody seen it yet? I'm telling you, between this Buchan Guy and Joseavious fae Whaalsaa, we could be in real trouble now.... Looks like it has even caused "Para' to rush into print once more. And as for the 'Ness Man' I canna say enough about his 'words o Wisdom.
  9. I was thinking of adding Dr. Wills - just to make it into a quartet you understand. I must say, you look like a young Sir Terry Wogan.
  10. Flower of Scotland - no wonder we lost the Rugby again. Let's hae Pat Boone singing 'April Love' or anything else instead ... please PS - Nice to see you back Ghostie How's the weather down at the Ness today?
  11. In last weeks Shetland Times Readers Views, we had letters from: Davie Thomason David A Clark Ian R Selbie I ask, is this form of subliminal torture, sanctioned under the UN Charter?
  12. I would like to say a 'special thanks' to Ghostie for his very informative and articulate posts throughout the year. You can tell you know, that he's from Lerwick
  13. eh? The Government closed the loophole some time ago re those who bank offshore ShetlandPeat! Unlink - What gave you that idea
  14. ^ I think your guy AB should meet my guy Mr. Mooga-bee..
  15. Yeah thought it might be a combination of that and a poor hemp harvest this last year. Might account for why all the hippies swear so much these days as well I hae a wistcot made o Hemp and it fools dem everytime. And I never sit too near an opin fire or kerry a torch in January. Woodstock - Na I wisna dere, but den agaen maybe I wiz..... gettin Bye fir noo Hung and Ness-Man???
  16. Its the lack of trees to hug, it confuses the hippy principles, and some of them lose their way. Oh you're so right Ghosty (well partly). Wir peerie group of Hippies are still excited nowadays, as someone previously brought their gramaphone tae the last love-in and we hed Noel Harrison singing 'The Windmills of your Mind'... Needless to say, converted from trees PDQ and we now await wi abated breath for the 'Big-White Windmills' to start... Who said the Summer of Love and the Yellow Ribbons died in 1969? but
  17. You being ironic or something, Shetland is hardly a violence free hippy commune. Kavi Ugl, you must get out a bit more (snow or no snow) and refrain and retrain yourself from reading the 'People's Friend'..... So nice to see 'Hail to the Hung Baby' from Aebirdeen back again and I can assure him that the Hippies are still around, alive and nearly well, although some of us can't quite remember why we are still doing this?
  18. Just love the name"Baron Farkoff", but don't get lazy and shorten it to BF
  19. Probably best to check facts before making suggestions of impropriety. I'm pretty sure this post was advertised in the Shetland Times a couple of months ago (unlike most council jobs). I certainly saw it at the time. It was also mentioned in at least one news story when the post was created. I can't find the ad online now, but the salary may well have been mentioned in it. They were looking for someone with quite specific skills and knowledge and Tom is one of not very many people locally who would have fitted the bill. Suggestions of impropriety? come off it - didn't you see my post had a 'Smiley-Face' to end? I do hope you can firm up on some of the above. Who are THEY, that you mention?
  20. I always thought that Tom Morton was more of a Satirist than a Spin-Doctor?. So there is the first cock-up.. So - did OBE-Kenobi or one of the many minions offer the job to TM? Possibly it may only be AB learning how to do things (what has now become known as the 'Shetland Way')? Why was this position never openly advertised? How much??? Mind you, with this particular job ahead, 'Rooney Money' might be the order of the day. Makeovers are certainly not my thing, so In that case, I wouldn't have wanted the position anyway.
  21. Pleading guilty to making false declarations - is the easy way out and the cheapest.... However, In light of their guilty pleas, they should now be banned from being Directors or Shareholders of a (or any) Private Limited Company - Namely Shetland Catch.....
  22. Topics: A - Children in Need - GOOD DEED B - Shetland Caught - PURE GREED Surely with all these Skippers landing at Shetland Catch and for that company to sell the catches, was there not a major question of Conspiracy to break the law? What happened to all the PROCEEDS?
  23. In which way(s) is the Co-op "infinitely better" than Tesco? Any Supermarket who has advertising stating - "We can save you money" you believe don't you? Nah! - It's still the Co-op for me.
