  1. Would you like to explain how? If a company is in difficulties and needing money then the last thing they are going to do is stop taking bookings on the hope they can hike the fares up.
  2. When your Sooth girlfriend doesn't think much of the dozen Shetland Roses you turn up with.
  3. Heh, he won't be with me on the other side!
  4. Horses, cows and male appendage beside (please try and stick to a language most of us can understand!) I think that this thread shows how easily some people can be affected by road rage. Providing each and every one of us take due care and participate safely in driving then this road rage could be reduced by a great amount. The original (recent) argument was that a van was driving dangerously close and, to put it mildly, being a wooble. I have always been of the opinion that a slow moving vehicle should pull over and let traffic pass if there is a build-up or if the traffic has been held-up for some time and unable to pass. I have also been of the opinion that you should leave a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front. If it does happen to be an inexperienced driver then chances are they will brake quickly and may have a shorter stopping distance than you. Bang, crash, accident, tears, death, etc ,etc... The most important aspect of all of this is to keep your cool. You will always meet idiots on the road. You will always meet people with different driving styles. You will always meet tourists wanting to take in the scenery rather than keep their eyes on the road. You will always meet people that think they can safely text while driving. I am in no way a perfect driver but I do try to respect other road users, no matter how they drive.
  5. http://www.speedtest.net/result/682072270.png Hmm, still running a little slow. Mwahahahahaha! Sorry....
  6. Fair enough, I wasn't aware that they had recommended the lead to you. Was the lead from a branded company? Or was it the shops own packaging? If they repackage it and attempt to sell it as new then are they not breaking the law and possibly voiding any manufacturer warranty that comes with the lead? I wouldn't want to be buying a previously opened package with the possibility of bent pins or broken wires without prior knowledge.
  7. I believe Sludgegulper does. Oh...that wouldn't be of much help!
  8. Errm, perhaps I have read this wrong but do you mean that you think it is acceptable to purchase a product, open the packaging and then return it when there is nothing wrong with it? Had you purchased a tin of beans, gone home, realised it wasn't the correct beans for the recipe, would you then return the tin of beans? I am not supporting any of the companies mentioned but surely it is hardly helping them keep their heads above water when people are opening the packaging and then returning things without good reason??
  9. Happy belated 4th birthday Shetlink! A lot has progressed since Shetlink's conception and I hope that Shetlink and the community spirit involved will continue to grow for many more years to come.
  10. Hope you all had a good one. Merry Chrimbo fae me.
  11. Don't forget that you can check out the SIC road weather stations. http://www.shetland.gov.uk/icecast/ It can help to give you a heads up. Looking just now all stations are reporting under 0C. I am sunburnt and feeling very un-christmassy.
  12. No. Flyglobespan are a seperate company from Flybe. If you have Flybe flights you should be fine. If you have Flyglobespan flights then you may need to find alternate travel arrangements. Have a good time at Up Helly Aa.
  13. I feel atpoundquotesopeningparenthesisampersandpercentatquotespound ampersandpercentopeningparenthesispercentampersandquotespoundatpercentquotepercent - Much the same as yourself Trout.
  14. Fixing frayed Christmas Lights while they are plugged in is not such a good idea.
  15. Awww. I knew you weren't a bad bunch really! Quadrophenia DVD would be bloody good entertainment whilst sampling the Whisky delights.
  16. Sigh. Would be nice to have time to chat with VisitShetland. Too busy splitting/merging/moving threads into where they should be and deciphering posts which appear to be written for only the original poster to understand. Does this thread belong in 'Shetland News'? I'll have a Whisky. Off for now to do some paid work. Play nice while I am away.
  17. I have shifted these posts from the Random Images thread. Look like the imagery used is supplied by Getmapping.com who were contracted by the Ordnance Survey bunch to take pictures. Looking back through my pics then they were flying about around the 15th April 2008. http://www.crcshetland.co.uk/cache/aircraft/g-task.jpg_595.jpg
  18. Fair enough. Could have been later than Feb 2008, the mess lasted for a long time.
  19. Yep, it is Feb 2008, around the time that Scottish Water made a complete mess of my garden laying a new pipe!
  20. Congrats, been a spot of splitting & merging going on there by the looks of things.
  21. I recommend that he only gets off and not off on as this will result in him being lost. IIRC some/most of the buses head towards the bus station (Guild St?) which is around the corner from the Ferry (10 min walk) Go from Point A
  22. Should that not be paintbaa?
