When will Unst see sense and realise that the north isles will be better served in the longer term by one team doing reasonably well instead of two teams that will be cuffed?

Very good question - Ask Geoffrey Priest.

Oh tae have some realistic/reasonable members on da SFA "board". Looks lik it'll be Works League or No League fur Yell, which Im worried will still bring aboot da demise o da club - It's hardly an ideal environment fur players startin' oot in fitba.

you cud pit dem in da under 9s league but dat dusna mean it wid dae dem any good. if dey canu git a team tigider fur a game in the A league, and the B league. Whits sayin dey wil git wan fur da works league??

In da B League or da Works League you can get by wi a squad o 11 players. (Very) Young players can plug gaps at least in da B League, but as I said earlier da Works League is hardly da place you wid want tae cultivate raw talent. You cannot expect a young, stretched squad tae compete in da top league.

Unfortunately a lot o da older Yell squad (24-28 year-aulds) are - how shall I pit dis - "unenthusiastic", an' so far dis winter we've been strugglin' tae get enough players fur two teams o indoor 4-a-side.

The promised formal "meeting" niver happened (da words pissup and brewery come to mind) but enough o wis spoke wi da upper echelons tae keen whit da craic is. Im truly amazed at da inability o virtually everybody in Shetland - includin' da SFA - tae confront da realities o dis situation. Gather everybody in a room tae sort it oot an' dey just look at da floor an' shrug der shoulders.

Call an EGM of the association? I can't remember the support needed but your club should have a constitution?

I'm no in Shetland at da moment, nor is da idder elder statesman o wir team (we're da two 26-year-aulds). Very few players based in Shetland are ower da age o 20, an' dey have no idea whit tae mak o dis craziness.

No loan players = No team. Da SFA wins.

Nobody wins. Football loses, simple as that.

Yell are not the only club facing a football meltdown. There are serious questions to be answered by everyone who plays or has an interest in football in Shetland.

ALL clubs have to look at themselves, what they offer the young of Shetland what the take and expect in return. And that has to be answered by any club who offer youth nothing at all including clubs of teh SFA and teh Woks League.

This may very weel be da case, but in da eyes o da SFA at da moment dey just need Yell tae mak a decision so dey can go aheed wi der glorious "enhanced" A League nixt season.

I wus astonished spikin' wi wir young players ower da festive. Da line I seemed tae hear repeated most wus: "Weel we have tae go up, idderwise we'll look lik complete (insert swear-wird here)." Dey honestly feel pushed intae it, which is just too wrong fur wirds.

The problem for Unst, is to allow Yell players in their team,it means that Unst players will have to go on to the bench or not get a game.Unst has always given all their players a game despite age or ability. If Northern Rovers had a reserve team who would run it? Yell can not even organise their own team! It is a shame that when Unst has a population of 600 compared with Lerwicks 8000 it is expected to field an Premier league team. Unst could have provided a team which would have got in the top half of the Premier league 10-15 years ago if all the Unst players which played for other Shetland Teams had played for Unst like they did in the Parish Cup. I can not understand what Shetland has to gain by forcing out players in the Northern Islands from football. I can understand why the Unst players want to try the league as Unst is their home Island and they want to play all their home games there in front of their own fans.Lastly who would run a Northern Rovers team as I understand that the previous management team are not willing to do it. I do not think that either the present Unst or Yell management team would be acceptable to either set of players!
