suuusssiiieee
The way this island squanders money i can see da broch entombed in a gigantic concrete and glass structure which will no doubt double up as another council office... man of kent
I think the anti-personnel mines are a good idea, but what disturbs me is why do they want to vandalise any thing? It cant be because they are bored, Shetland youngsters have been bored for donkey's years and didnt do that sort of damage? There is more to do now in Shetland then there ever was, so boredom should be minimal. So what in Shetland Society has changed? Improvements are plentiful from when I was a youngster growing up in Lerwick, sure we did things we shouldnt have, but vandalism wasnt one of them. Its all too common down this way, but I did have high hopes for Shetland? CCTV seems to be modern crime detection thinking, seems to work in city centres, at least the police can see what happend on the camera as by the time they get there its normally all over. Medziotojas
at least the police can see what happend on the camera as by the time they get there its normally all over. And therein lies the problem. Whatever happened to community policing?
CrunchieSquirrel
I think its a good idea 'cause I remembered a long time ago that someone was ended up at hospital because they were fooling around there. Huh! They must've learnt their lesson.
bobbyw
Its no hard, put up a big steel spikey fence dat goes out a few feet into da loch and a locked heavy bu##er o a gate. The vandals wont want to get there trainers wet and cant get over the fence for da spikes. Or you could dig a moat and build a drawbridge wi a big rottweiler at da other side! Ghostrider
^^ Let the loch flood up again to its previous size, up until just over 130 year ago the loch was apparently several feet higher and the castle was on an island except for one raised path. http://photos.shetland-museum.org.uk/index.php?a=wordsearch&s=gallery&w=Clickimin+causeway&go=Go Gate it...job done! Para Handy
but what disturbs me is why do they want to vandalise any thing? They will still be trying to find an answer to that a thousand years from now
tlady
Check out the Broch just now at night from the South Road, a lot of the floodlights are out and there's a weird illusion that it has disappeared We had to go back for a second look cause we couldn't believe our eyes.. PS No alcohol involved
