for Skyumpi:

Nice wan!

I tried to come down the steep bit of the Cuppins this morning but made an 'arris of it, fell and lost a ski. Not easy getting back up to retrieve it the blighter. I was pretty puggled by the time I'd got it back so woosed out and tracked north a bit to take the easier route down.

Wish I'd been able to stop the bus this afternoon to take a picture just after the humalees, the big loch just before the west burrafirth junction had a procession of sheep walking across it. I'd just been giving the bairn a bit of a lecture about why she couldn't walk over the loch before - even though the rabbits had been.

@MaxF It was excellent. Totally different between Sunday and yesterday. On Sunday the road gully to the top made for a great mini-half-pipe effect with fans up the edges and small deposits of powder in the bottom. The steeper slopes were treacherous with crusts. Yesterday, complete opposite really. Road had 2-3ft of powder in it and not enough slope to get up "on the plane", but the steeper slopes were magic! Floating on air. :)

But there steep and there's steep. The slopes over at the Cuppins, as Skyumpi is speaking of, were absolutely mental. (And with the aches I have today I feel mental for going anywhere near them  ). Hiking up a slope above 45' angle in 2-3ft powder was - as my colleague identified- worse than Spinning. It was like something from a mountaineering expedition!

And then, on descent, my board clogged and I lost all control of it in the near dark and coudn't see where I was going anyway. Madness.

We went up the diagonal fence, but I'm sure there has to be an easier ascent there, might have to ask Skyumpi for that one?

I deeply sympathise at having to go back up there to retrieve a ski. What a thought.
