People are using the Shetlink Forum to fight what they perceive as serious wrongdoing and supreme arrogance against the electorate of Shetland, by some or most of its Elected Members. Anyone who hasn't had a look-in at Shetlink are missing out on some comprehensive and extremely clever comments, by many clever people.

Maybe the above is just a peerie chide, but your input to date leaves much to be desired and that's what is so strange?

Everyone knows you are capable of much better, but still you continue to mock peoples efforts.

Actually the SIC don't care who's money it is, where it comes from or what they have to do to get it. Grants from Scotland, UK, EU, they take it all and mix it in with a bit of financial magic and, hey presto there is more "free" money! It is all OPM though.

I have a very conceited idea that may help us settle this problem.

If all of us, every man woman and child, donate around £22.00, for every £500,000 of lost money donated by our council.

This would put us in the black.

This would then mean that the council could then fund more lost causes.

The generousity of our council is legend.

Where on earth does this money come from?

I suspect that the council all chip in and pay it out of their own pockets.

Thank goodness that we help them out and pay them expenses.

Who will be the first person to donate?

Maybe it will be the people who want us to follow this lead;

Given that SIC took advice from COSLA and as they are a government body, if the investigation now taking place finds them at fault for the advice they gave, especially given the re-opening of the criminal investigations, then I reckon it should be the government who compensate as a result of COSLA's maladministration.

if dr wills is correct that the people who lodged the complaint against him did not have permission to spend 3k on legal advice then they should each pay it back.

 

as two of them are solicitors why could they not write it themselves.

Okay....apart from the fact someone can't spell, this is just taking the f'n urine.....

 

Having ended my venture into permanent public sector employment as Chief Executive of Shetland Islands Council, I am pleased to announce that as of 1st March 2010, dalzell projects is again actively trading.

 

The 'phone has already been ringing and my first assignment back in the world of consultancy takes me back to London next week.

 

I would like to thank Shetland Isalnds Council for the opportunity of being their Chief Executive. I consider it a priviledge, and look forward to seeing the initiatives we began together bear fruit in the years to come. I wish SIC and the community my best wishes for the future.

To be fair his comments showed a heck of a lot of more class than Wills's did, granted he is absolutely pishing himself with laughter and £250k in his hipper but he could have been far less complimentary (he likely will be in future when asked about it)

It would not look good if the above were to put in a solicitors fee invoice in their own names to the council.

Too many questions would have to be asked.

It has been known in another country, in a different time, for a solicitor to be hired and that solicitor then hires another person or persons, to research the case. These researchers are then paid a fee for their help.

These researchers do not show up on the invoice.

^^ Are they both still listed members of the Law Society of Scotland? They couldn't give the legal advice as there would be a conflict of interest I reckon. In addition, Solicitors tend to specialise these days - Conveyancing Solicitors wouldn't, for example, deal with Employment Law matters. I'm also unsure if a Solicitor no longer practising could instruct a Counsel/Barrister in order to obtain a written Opinion.
