breeksy
I've just heard that her column in the Shetland Times has been axed by the 'new' editor. I for one enjoy reading her column, it's sometimes one of few really interesting pieces in there - whats does anyone else think?
Guest Anonymous
Rosa's column was great, and I'm lost to find any reason for axing it. Unless, perhaps. she writes so much better than the new editor.... (oops, been reading the chief exec thread,,,, same thoughts.. )
JimIvens
She has been weeded out then....I'll get my coat.
PJ of Hildisvik
It is disgraceful that Rosa's column is being axed.Being replaced by West Mainland notes apparently.Last weeks "rag" had 9 pages of local sport in it, i enjoy sport don't get me wrong but 9 pages! Her last column will be on the 18th Sept. The paper, a bit like the SIC is going down hill imho. ArabiaTerra
Maybe Malachy can pick up the column for the Shetland Life?
Para Handy
Yes far to much Sport for me as well I am stopping buying the Times. Andrex is a lot better for the bathroom anyway. But the page with the religious rubbish was very absorbent though it was used to put under the cats litter tray
daveh
Maybe there just isn't enough news to report on in Shetland. On another point, am I alone in thinking that 15 shillings is a lot for a local paper?
Guest Anonymous
There is always the online version. But, as Para Handy said, the paper version does have it's uses. Our local weekly rag is £1.50, and although it is as full of 'news' as Andrex, it has very little sport. So worth it for the 'hatched, matched, and dispatched' column. BTW. as AT said, it would be great if Shetland Life picked up Rosa's column.
Shoogler
Has anyone wondered what the staffers at the ST actually produce, given the amount of contributory columns that are popping up everywhere? Not to mention that all the sport columns. apart from Jim Taits, are actually contributed as well?I would have thought they would be delighted to retain Rosa's column and saved themselves having to fill another page. oddtablet
I think the Shetland Times would be better to employ a proof reader and then they would not need to print apologies for 'errors'. Personally I quite like all the country/isles notes and often skimmed Rosa's stuff. However I think they could lessen the sports stuff
Para Handy
What The new editor, not here with Corrections and Clarifications Here’s an He needs to pull up his (football) socks a bit, and bitch the spell checker. Oops I meen ditch the cell checker. A! I have it, ditch the spell chucker. rugger it. Just figure it out for yourself
jambo6
Well, maybe this is a bit snippit, but I dont think its been anything great since Jonathan Wills was axed.
Infiltrator
Slightly o/t but.. Someone suggested less sports coverage - how about even less sports photos. Some of our local sports celebs must be the most photographed in the UK if not the world. Some of the ladies hockey teams seem to have had their photo in every weeks Shetland Times for the last 15 years - I think we all know who they are know by now.. piggywiggie
but maybe all the sports fanatics like their pictures in the paper. I skip the wildlife pieces....does that mean we should get rid of that too?
