Disruption to UK flights due to ash cloud

Recommended Posts

My folks came off the Hrossey this morning and they said she was absolutely heaving with people. Infact they just stayed in their cabin for the whole journey.

And this is interesting because one of the crew told them that the Hrossey might be doing a run to Norway for stranded travellers.

:)

might be just as well to keep her sailling Shetland/Norway

Ja, ja, if only...... :D

Apologies for the confusion around my earlier post, but i did think it was a bit odd when posting that Loganair appeared to have cancelled all their flights so early in the day, when they had previously said that they would make their own decision around 1400BST this afternoon.

And its good to know that some flights are running again tomorrow (albeit only 4 of them) but hopefully things will start to pick up again and return to normal from now. :D

Met office have just said that activity has intensified with ash at 10.000 ft, from 5000 ft this morning.

Also Katla is rumbling, with tremor activity increased by 200%.

And Kekkla has an ash cloud hovering over it,

It ain't over til the fat lady sings, as they say

All Loganair flights cancelled tomoro EXCEPT

BE 6778 from Aberdeen to Sumburgh

BE 6779 Sumburgh to Aberdeen

BE 6780 Aberdeen to Sumburgh

BE 6781 Sumburgh to Aberdeen

Just for info, the scheduled departure times of these flights are:

BE 6778 Aberdeen to Sumburgh (Depart - 1520)

BE 6779 Sumburgh to Aberdeen (Depart - 1705)

BE 6780 Aberdeen to Sumburgh (Depart - 1835)

BE 6781 Sumburgh to Aberdeen (Depart - 2010)

Each flight should arrive approx. 1hr after it's departure time.

The airline said this afternoon (Monday) that due to the long period of disruption it was impossible to re-commence with a full service due to "aircraft and crew disposition".
Just two flights out of Sumburgh - shetland-news.co.uk
