Spinner72
so why does the radio say that there are flights (west?) from "Shetlands and Orkneys" (Beeb4) They are probably going by the NATS Website : There may be limited opportunity in Orkney and Shetland from 1900 (local time) today for some flights to operate under individual coordination with ATC. However, it is most unlikely that many flights will operate today and anyone hoping to travel should contact their airline before travelling to the airport. Bad reporting really, as they should be going by the operators more regular updates.

sharalee99
The fixed wings that are showing from this morning I know didn't operate.Perhaps they have just not cleared their schedule? Would be good if the guys who are stuck offshore could get back... but I'm not convinced. Let's hope I'm wrong (just this once )
Ghostrider
^^ I would think any rig that was due a crew change Thursday/Friday is experiencing a noticable level of cabin fever among one or two by now. I can't blame them, marooned on a steel skerry is probably fine and well for a bit, but without a definite rescue date a form of claustrophobia is bound to start setting in. sharalee99
^Yep, I agree. Bad enough travel plans being disrupted, but when you've been away weeks already, stuck in the middle of nowhere, adding days to that, (or who knows how long) can't be good for morale. sharalee99
Have just heard Sumburgh is staying open late this evening for Scatsta, as they are operating some heli flights, and Sumburgh is a diversion alternative.
