West Voe, Grutness and Spiggie.

The Hay Sands had fabulous surf in the old days before it became part of the runway.

The Eastshore (Virkie Pool) was always nice and warm, but you had to watch out for the conger eels in the deep part on the west end! 8O

St Ninians Isle is good for scamblers along the beach. Or was anyway :P

Unless it's been a heavy sooth wast for a while, and the middle has gone to a quicksand, or bairns have dug holes....Ouch....and....Ouch. 8O

Scousburgh Sand :D

Now we're talking :D ....Rerwick is pretty good too, just a bit more awkward to get to....and from.

"Grotty Buckie" or however to hell it is spell it, is that a beach somewhere??

Grotty Buckie is actually the Shetland name for a Cowrie Shell. There are many different types of Cowrie worldwide, but the ones found in shetland are about 1cm long, 0.7cm wide and have a raised pattern on the shell which resembles a finger print.

Best place to find Grotty Buckies is "Da Laward" at Grutness.
