  1. dont know why but i now feel the urge to impersonate Bob Mortimer and Vic Reeves
  2. My point was not to how much time you spend on shetlink but in the context of which you seem to base or justify your judgements towards what goes on with Mareel in this particular case.. You seem to pick up on idle rumour or gossip that has no grounds other than it is idle pub gossip and then go and research the website that we all know and love for being the most accurate of websites wiki to build your case against why mareel is doomed for failure. Anyway i will leave in fear of this turning into yet another digression from the origins of this thread. Regards twerto
  3. I have to say your last couple of post Unlinked just sums your entire argument up... you seem to have so much time on your hands that you roam the internet to try and pick up issues that are a figment rather than reality
  4. I wont spend the same length of time as you have typing out your post Unlinked.. But from my memory.. all the walls are insulated in 4 layers of varying materials every rivet, screw and fixing has been designed so it does not transfer any noise through each layer of sound proofing.. every room is treated in different ways depending on what its use is going to be the ventilation system has been designed again so no sound can be transferred through its pipe work and that goes for all the services. Ceilings are of a special design.. not specifically to mareel but to any music venue to make it acoustically sound. the floors are sprung as to again reduce annoying back ground noises being transferred to where it is not wanted. The doors are accoustically designed and where required there is two doors to go through.. such as the stage door. There is 3 levels of lighting. one normal. one for the stage and a blue light that will be on while acts are playing so if a door is opened it wont stream in bright light if there are any late comers to events. Disabled access has been a major factor in the design in the building.. there are 2 lifts for the main areas and a couple more to enable any employees with mobility problems to all areas other than the plant room if my memory serves me right.. Time will tell how well it all works but i am under no illusion that every minute detail has been considered and put into practice.. there is no denying this is by far one of the most technically and innovative designed buildings in the UK for this type of use at this precise time and I now fully understand why it has been delayed in the way it has. oh and on the toilet front.. they are so well sound proofed that my worry isnt about noise coming from them but more the fact that the smell might linger around
  5. Having been on a site visit last week to Mareel all i can say is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING BUILDING.. what ever your stance is about this building/venue when you see the place and what has gone into engineering it.. it is truly mind boggling. I am not going to try and defend it against those who feel it is OTT as I to feel it is OTT but my heavens what a venue it has the potential to be and as Nedlander said earlier.. I think it is time people started to embrace and appreciate it for what it is and can be, as it is here to stay.

  17. Anyone been to the two meetings so far or planning to go any of the up and coming dates? Looks like the Shetland times is doing Sun style reporting by adding spin to the headlines and focusing on the smallest comment of the night. All though admittedly not there myself from what i have heard from those who were. This comment was a small comment made at the very end of the night. To many the "meatiest" to use their own word was the questions about how they arrived at the figure of £250 million to be set aside for a rainy day and had any research had been done on how the proposed cuts will effect the Shetland economy as a whole? to which the answer appeared to be a resounding no but they will try to answer this by the next round of meetings. I hope the council will be producing there own reports of the individual nights without spin. All though I am still baffled at how they hope to get any sensible suggestions when very few people actually know how the council spends it budgets and the council appears not to of decided what the bare bone service required is. Kind regards Moi
  18. depends on the kind of playlist your looking for but there are a few people around that can do the sort of thing you ask. John Collins Neil Robertson Kenneth Harper Alex Goodlad and myself if all of the above fail
  19. I have to agree ^^ had a couple of nice meals from there and their salads are great.. just avoid the spare ribs imo.. they were just boiled with sauce poured over..
  20. I know exactly what you mean ^^ there becomes a point where you just give up trying to explain yourself all the time to ridiculous rumours.
