Papsy you keep referring to the good old P&O days. So you will probably remember when the road tanker of lub oil fell over and crushed a couple cars. No amount of checking or chain tightening prevented that. Anyway how would you possibly know what ticket I hold?

So, you are contracted, for money to get on a ship in all weathers, that is your choice. For many however, they do not have the experience of seasoned sailors and I would wonder if they would want to take any risk to get to Shetland. The P&O ferries were also kept in harbour or took 24 hours to do the leg, was OK as most passengers had berths, but I do remember the panic in folk and the worry of folk with young children. Could we also be sure that any livestock carried will be perfectly safe? Would you be happy to have your "dream" car parked next to a 30 tonne trailer with the service about to expect severe weather? Many, no. The risks appear to outweigh the gains.
It is not as if the planes are not flying is it. There are also other freight carriers.

Pete, first point. Don't ever try to put words into my mouth and twist what I said. You are well known for this and to be honest I see you as nothing more than a troll.
 
Second point. Why do you try to turn everything into an argument. Are you really desperate for attention that negative attention is better than having none.
 
Third point. Is my concern regarded the suggestion that they were being supplied with a skip. I just want to ensure we are all on a fair playing field.
 
Fourth point. They may well be contributing to services, but no one else is getting a free skip, if that is the case.

There are numerous "Shetland" pages on Facebook, run by almost as many different folk. If you've managed to get yourself deleted from them all, you must have annoyed an awful lot of people. Facetiousness aside, firstly, unless you specify which page(s) you're referring to, you're tarring all page owners (and no, I'm not one - I'm not that much of a masochist), and are not going to get any input of worth from here, as different owners operate to different page rules.
 
Secondly, all pages on Facebook are run by individual(s) for their own reasons, and with whatever rules they see fit to enforce. They are under no obligation to allow or delete anyone from their page(s), they can and do, do as they see fit, they are judge are jury, and are under no obligation to explain themselves. If they, for whatever reason, or for no reason whatsoever decide not to let any one individual join their page, or to remove any one individual on the same basis, that is their privilege as page owner(s). Any person who finds themselves experiencing such treatment, really has no option but to accept it and move on. Although a polite and respectful email exchange with any such page owner(s) behaving in such a way, to ensure both sides fully understand the other's stance, can sometimes work wonders if one or both sides are operating under a misapprehension of the circumstances.

For clarity, this is in regards to the Shetland Classifieds on Facebook and nothing at all to do with Shetlink or associated Facebook classifieds feed from here!

Looking into what's what. Presumably, the closed group aspect of their pages is a form of moderation? I suspect it's a thankless task.

Get real.  People create pages on Facebook.  It's their pages.  They don't have to accept anyone.  They have a rule that if you don't have your location set for Shetland, you can't join.  So either quit ya whinging or start your own group, simples!
