EM
I Googled abondment...I find that whenever I Google something, and I've got my spelling wrong, there is rarely a shortage of results. As this term is not present in Wiktionary, Wikipedia or the various specialist legal dictionary sites I think it looks most likely that all the pages using it are mistakes. Will be interesting to hear what the lawyers say. Does "abandonment of her business" make any sense in the specific context?
Frances144
We did the same, Googled it and looked it up in 5 big dictionaries (OH is into crosswords big-time). I think "abandonment of her business" might fit the letter better - even so it is a load of bilge and will be dealt with accordingly. I will let you know the Solicitor's reply with regard to his inability to spell - I feel a waspish letter coming on!

Para Handy
On of the tabloids had the following headline a few years ago Dead Body Found In Graveyard maybe not a typo but a very good pun Which referred to someone who had been killed in a Graveyard
Ghostrider
Okay, serious subject, but the Shetland News have earned another mention. ....in October a man was told to make his own way to the Lerwick hospital from Sandwick after suffering a fatal heart attack;.... http://www.shetland-news.co.uk/news_05_2009/Over%202,000%20sign%20ambulance%20petition.htm Okay, so maybe it wasn't permanently fatal. sassermaet
I noticed that too! I'm presuming he meant 'near-fatal'?!
Michael
A bit juvenile perhaps, but I was talking to someone on another forum about CERN and all the progress with the Large Hadron Collider, and they got the d and the r in hadron the wrong way round Then all of sudden I heard many jokes about that from various comedians

Lola Boomboom
'TOMMY SHERIDAN DROPS HIS BRIEFS!' Not a typo.. but a damned good Daily Record headine after he decided to represent himself in court.
khitajrah
No, but thinking of setting up boarder control... wild idea...expel him for breaching boarder control. I had a wee giggle over this. I envisioned a new policy for dealing with unruly lodgers or folk on skateboards.
Ghostrider
Obviously not a good week at the Shetland News.... According to them our recently appointed SIC Director of Infrastructure Services seems to be trying to blend in, by changing his name to something in keeping with the location of his working enviornment.... ....one of the first jobs new infrastructure services director Gordon Greenhill.... Mr Greenhead said that substantial sums of money could be saved.... http://www.shetland-news.co.uk/news_05_2009/SIC%20vehicle%20bill%20slashed.htm
EM
They've fixed it now and posted an apology, but the current exhibition at the Gadderie was for some time incorrectly described on their website. As they say: Our ApologiesIt has been pointed out that we referred to the artist Sue Jane Taylor as Jue Sane Taylor. We apologise for this spelling mistake.http://www.shetland-museum.org.uk/whatson.htm Seems to be a spot of dyslexia at work and nearly a dodgy slur
