JimIvens
Seems to be mentioning 3.3 on the Richter scale, according to ITN. Not so long after the last one:http://www.shetlink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2000 and then of course the English one:http://www.shetlink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4653 Terra firma seems less "firma" around here all the time. It'll be the oil wells Or perhaps the reduction in polar ice is prompting a tectonic shift. Either way, I'm sleeping with a lifejacket and a crash helmet on fae noo on, in fact to hell with it, I'm sleeping in the boat. (I slept through it ) Dont forget Tsunamis
PJ of Hildisvik
Lets hope if we get another one, that it doesn't cause another underwater Storegga slide, with subsequent 100ft Tsunami By the way, isn't there some crap journalism around.Mail on line covering the story,Epicentre onshore,(offshore?) 12 miles of (off?) Shetland.
Hollian
I was up feeding baby and thought a big lorry had driven past the house! Then I realised what time it was and couldn't work out what it had been. Better half slept through it!

Riviera
A little to close to home for my liking, The house (in Mossbank) moved/vibrated enough to wake us up, and with a few things falling of the shelves I was soon out of bed, Also a few of the large stones, the sea defensive armouring in front of the house has moved, not to any great extent, but when you look out every day you happen to notice the difference in the layout of rocks, At least the roof is still there............. I think
EM
So that is what is was. It felt very strange and there seemed more shaking of china etc than I'd have expected. Just before Xmas the house was hit by a vehicle and this seemed similar. On checking I found no damage this time and remained confused. Ghostrider
See they have changed the photo, see complaing to the Beeb sometimes works, i even got an apology The pic may be of the right place, but I'm less than sure what "message" is conveyed about Shetlanders by showing a kirk and kirkyard with tombstones when reporting an earthquake. ....probably that those of us who aren't outside "resting", are inside praying like the clappers. misty25
why has shetland suddenly become a mecca for earthquakes? Wasn't there one in Unst at the beginning of the year?

EM
Did anyone in the toon feel it?Yep. Checking up on the Richter info I'm a bit surprised because there was a lot of shaking of china. That seems to be listed as typical for larger events: Wikipedia[/url]"]3.0-3.9 Often felt, but rarely causes damage.4.0-4.9 Light Noticeable shaking of indoor items, rattling noises. Significant damage unlikely. Of course I don't dispute the value, but on the basis of the rattling china and just the above info I'd have expected it in the higher category.
