  1. Which means it'll still be 11p (or thereabouts) dearer than mainland prices. Do Tesco have a national pricing policy or don't they?
  2. Busy winter ahead, penfold?
  3. Reading the Youtube comments you'd think these guys were better than the best thing since sliced bread. Am I missing something, or are they pretty ordinary - once you see past the flashing lights, short dress, posturing and OAP dance-fest at the end. I'd appreciate comments from real musicians as I just can't see that they're anything special.
  4. Can't think many of you won't have seen it but just in case... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNfbX6uvA6s
  5. ^ Maybe if customers asked them to start putting prices down they'd do that as well...
  6. For sure. And if that sort of thing leads folk into hunting out Beach Boys (or whatever else) stuff then it's broadening everyones' experiences. As a by the way, check this one out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuaeHXq8Wm8
  7. From www.shetlandtimes.co.uk "Responding to World Tastes’ concerns, Mr Clelland said Tesco was simply responding to what its customers asked it to put in the shop. “They’ve asked for upmarket foodstuffs and Chinese and Asian groceries are part of that. We’re just concentrating on delivering the store that our customers have asked us to deliver." I'd be very interested to see the market research that resulted in the stocking of identical niche products to an established retailer.
  8. I must confess I did make a start at listening to it but soon had the 'Na, na...whit is dis?' moment. So thanks for the excerpt - I did listen to all of it. It was...different, and probably not something I'd listen to much again. But at least I gave it a go.
  9. Twerto - any way of just listening to this one? My favourite ever song and I'd be interested to hear what had been done to it.
  10. I'll remind you of that at the next Bigton bairns' Christmas party
  11. Nah - you've got to be at the wind-up. No sane person would sanction the removal of the ability to prosecute police officers for any criminal act. They are supposed to be upholders of the law. Can the costs be justfied? Ask yourself, what if that bloke on the river bank last night was one of Moat's accomplices trying to gain some leeway for Moat to make an escape. And police marksmen shot him. Would that be justified? Or, because a large number of overtime was going to have to be paid, the marksmen let rip. Where does the line get drawn? I cringe as I await your response...
  12. Absolutely. From The Independent, 21 October, 2005 The Attorney General was accused of bowing to political pressure last night after it emerged that no police officer will be prosecuted for shooting dead a man armed with a wooden table leg. The killing of Harry Stanley, a painter and decorator from east London, raises concern about whether the criminal justice system is capable of holding police officers to account for shooting dead members of the public. In the past 12 years no police officer has been successfully prosecuted for any of the 30 fatalities caused by police marksmen.
  13. Okay...I can just about see how clothes could be described as out-of-date i.e the child has grown out of them whereupon they can be recycled via younger siblings or a charity shop, but toys? Out-of-date toys? How d'you get out-of-date toys?
  14. One that I've noticed gone is the peerie packets of 10 sticks of shortbread for 9p. A much lamented loss by some...
  15. Just bought a Finlux from Geordie Robertson's. Happy with it so far. Size and model info available if needed.
  16. ^ Who benefited most from there being a leak? What would it have accomplished for any of the gang of 6 to have leaked the information? Ditto Sandy Cluness. Ditto any council employees. What did it accomplish for The Shetland Times (if indeed it was they who were first) to publish the leak?
  17. Or the person(s) receiving the complaint. Or anybody within that loop who had access to it. I can't remember when this leak happened nor do I recall where it was first published. Perhaps I'm being awfully naive, but doesn't the publisher of the leak have some responsibility in this sorry mess?
  18. For anyone to try to label Torres a cheat based on that footage is deluded. There may have been many other examples of cheating during his career - that isn't one of them. That's all I'm arguing here. I do, however, think you're rather over-dramatising Torres' reaction. That doesn't make sense to me. And careful viewing of the clip will show that Torres was playing for Spain at the time - not Liverpool.
  19. Clearly. i.e. CLEARLY. i.e. CLEARLY the Chilean player just catches Torres' trailing foot with his knee. As with a tap tackle in rugby, once your trailing foot is deflected towards your leading calf...there's nothing you can do to stop yourself from - effectively - tripping yourself. So...in this instance, where Torres was running pretty close to full pelt, once he was touched - and that is all it takes - he was going to go down. And, due to his speed, fairly spectacularly. For anyone to try to claim that as an example of Torres cheating doesn't really understand the game. It's as simple as that.
  20. My opinion is backed up by the numerous examples on this thread of you claiming your opinions to be facts. I have no desire to go over old ground so will refrain from re-posting that which is already easily accessible. I see you've brought up the 'stormtrooper' line, despite being asked by a moderator not to and agreeing to that request. I'll finish with yet another request to return to the topic under discussion however, since I do not wish to engage in any further discourse with someone quite so blinkered and incapable of rational debate, I shall take no part in it.
