  1. I heard that their lease was due for renewal and the owner of Bolts had cut their electricity because they refused to sign a 10 year lease, maybe a load of stoness though. I do know for sure he tried the same thing with someone else who rents out of there not so long ago, i was a bit shocked when the owner of the shop told me about it, in todays current climate who in their right mind would take out a 10 year lease!!!
  2. Visited the Sumburgh Hotel a while back and had the haddock and chips, it was absolutely rank. Went back last week and thought i would give the fish another go in the hope that last time was a one of, afraid to say it wasn't, won't be returning again. Had a meal at Burrastow House at the weekend, fantastic!!! Brilliant setting, nice atmosphere, very relaxed, awesome food. £80 for 2, 3 course meal and included £10 of drinks, I have to say i was slightly taken aback at the price but i really enjoyed it, definately going back.
  3. Cats!!! dirty little b'stards. I had a problem with cats turdting over my shingle for months, i tried a few different things before i was told to sprinkle curry powder and spread lemon wedges around. I left the wedges down for 4/5 days then replaced them, i spread the curry powder over every 3/4 days depending if it rained. All this was done over a 4wk period, worked a bloody treat, no cat turd since.

    Garage rates

I've had a Vauxhall for the past 4 years, Station Garage does my servicing and i can't say that there billling has been unfair. Grantfield Garage on the other hand, not so good, the auld folk put their car in for a minor repair and it was 2 months before they got it back again with a £300 bill to boot, the car also had to go in another 2 times after that because of the same fault, bloody disgrace.
  5. .............also Megador, you seem to have your finger(s) on the pulse of Shetland Amatuer football, let's see your starting XI.
  6. Megador, you keep harping on about Peter Peterson(which i fully agree with) to hang up his boots, at least come up with a decent replacement, Scott Morrison!!!! He's nearly as fast as the sun on the wall and would pose no threat to Orkney never mind the quality in Aaland.
  7. I suggest you try Shetland Chiropractic(not to be cofused with the guy who comes up from south who trades under a similar name) in Bolts, the lady there is absolutley superb, you may have to wait as she's very busy but her care is well worth it. She's worked wonders with my back and has also treated some muscular problems i've had in my legs.
  8. If so, how the **** is he considered 'independent'. I really hope i heard wrong.
  9. Just caught the tail end of Radio Shetland, can someone tell me if i heard correctly, is Davie Clark our Chief Executive going to be the 'independent' advisor reviewing where the new school will be going?
  10. Looking to go somewhere nice and hot for 7-10 days with the missus in October, anyone have any recomendations?
  11. Spoke to someone yesterday who witnessed it. The 2 fa**ies who put the guy in hospital were arguing with the lone guy inside The Noost, it carried on outside where they assaulted him, as the guy was lying on the ground one of the said fa**ies ran up and booted him in the head, the lass i spoke said his head just exploded, blood everywhere and completely unconsious. Poor state of affairs in the 1st place but even poorer when it takes 2. Hope they get jail time.
  12. A very pasty morning to you all:( Was out for a few beers last night, decided to head along to Posers at the back o 1am and found we had to take a detour as the police had closed off the area between Swansons and the fancy dress shop, thankfully decided to get a taxi home instead Anyone know what happened?
  13. Fantastic!!! Well done to all those involved
  14. Is it not time we layed this thread to rest, it's getting a bit boring....
  15. Bloody fuel prices surely going up 5p per litre tomorrow. arghhhhh!
  16. It trully has begun, the Tesco monster is picking up speed......Tesco selling 'white goods', this is the same Tesco who before they got there extension where adamant they were 'NOT' going to stock white good items, what a joke.... My neighbour bought a toaster from them a few weeks ago and it went on fire Wednesday night, he said he was lucky he hadn't left the kitchen he also said he cleaned it regular. I know it's the consumers choice where they buy from and i totally agree with that ,but the 'white goods' situation is just another step in this companies power hungry attitude to swallow up local businesses not only in Shetland but all over the UK and have everything to themselves. Just you watch, clothes, larger stocks of cd's, dvds will be next along with cameras, phones and all your home entertainment equipment. God help the local traders and the staff who work with them. In these times of economic turmoil they cannot compete against such a large company, once Tesco fill that extension you are going to start to see local shops shut their doors and many people out of jobs.
  17. Great news. hopefully it'll boost the Shetland treasure chest with some much needed coin. I bet the council are already coming up with ideas to spend spend spend
  18. Hope your okay Mal, much damage?
  19. Who said anything about Voe! I love the 'Pierhead' and as its my local i shall defend it to the hilt
  20. Corporate, if you would take time to read my post again you will find that nowhere did i slag of the work done by the 2 hotels in question, i'm sure the staff are flat out and do a tremendous job to make the experience for Up Helly Aa tourists firts class, i was merely pointing out the fact that some people are quite happy to make quite a considerable amount of money in a winter month when there is very little tourism and give nothing back in return.
  21. Brae's a hole, the hotel is and always will be a hole, good enough for the locals i say
  22. We arrived at the Big 'P' aroond 5am and i have to say it was poor, maybe a dozen or so people there. I have spoken to other squad members who are of the same opinion and some were there early doors. It would be a shame to see it shut as i don't think they could replace it at the moment, which would mean more squads waiting at each hall and you would have less time to spend in halls next year. Well done to KGQ owners for opening it as i know that it is run at a loss for them on the night. It's a shame the Shetland Hotel and the Lerwick Hotel are unavailable as they are the perfect size but the owner doesn't want anything to do with UHA, on the other hand he's quite happy to take the profit from both hotels being fully booked with visitors up for the occasion. ass!
  23. Absolutely spot on with your comments, Tesco along with the downturn in Sullom Voe and the short sightedness of people against the windfarm are going to be the downfall of the entire Shetland community. Before the anti-windfarm clan tear my comments to bits, i'm not completely in favor of this(maybe smaller scale) but i do see the need for some sort of renewable energy to be captured by these islands. Anyway thats for another thread.
