  1. I think he writes a lot of sense, and he is definitely an Aberdeen supporter.
  2. I would love to see Richard in Shetland, but I wouldn't want it to be like the Paul Carrick gig at Clickimin, arguebly a bigger name, but nobody turned up, at least not many.
  3. Thats Pressley away noo, there winna be ony Scots left at Hearts shortly, just the way Romanov wants it
  4. I think one of the main problems that the LPA are worried about are the large barges with tugs assisting them that are supposed to be coming to Norscot base with old oil rig parts. The bridge will certainly hinder the maneovering of these large vessels. This is all being held up by the council stopping the dredging of the North harbour.
  5. The problem with Richard is he's not a household name, only the people that are into his music would go to see him, the only way it would be financially viable would be as part of the folk festival, or guitar festival.
  6. The flights have been so succesful, they are missing oot the Faroe bit, and just flying Shetland to Gatwick next year
  7. I recently got to Edinburgh return for £136, but my wives was £142, bought 2 minutes later, I must have got the last seat at the cheaper price.
  8. A couple of pals in Tingwall and Scalloway canna get it, they both got sky free channels.
  9. You don't have to be a fitba genius to realise when you have the best striker(goal ratio) in Scotland, and your team can't score for peanuts, you have to play him , I would gladly take the Rangers job, but I wouldn't be able to be unbiased against Celtic
  10. It's French arrogance, "I pick the team, not the press and not the supporters", thats why Boyd doesn't start every game, it was the same with the goalie position. Hope he keeps it going
  11. Looks like my prediction from September, when I changed from Rangers to Hibs for the CIS cup could be right, and my other predictions are looking good, Celtic for the League and Scottish Cup
  12. I think after Saturday, the CIS cup will go to Hibs
  13. If I remember correctly the whole economy of Faroe went bankrupt a few years ago, and had to be bailed out by the Danish government. In Denmark the income tax rate is about 50%, I'm not sure if it's the same in Faroe.Faroe has the right to look after her own fishing because although it is owned by Denmark, it is not in the EEC. We did vote to stay out of the EEC, the only part of the UK that did.
  14. League- Celtic Scottish Cup-Celtic CIS Cup-Rangers
  15. An ex counciler once told me, he wished that the cooncil was run by the Lerwick Harbour Trust, as they were far better run, that could solve all the problems, let the LPA run da cooncil
  16. What aboot Mal Smith, if he's back?????
  17. He said on the radio tonight that it was for personal family reasons, and that he wouldn't have been able to take the team to Rhodes next year, so it was time for someone else to take over. At least he's finished on a high, winning the Intercounty, he said it had nothing to do with the dispute in Orkney.
  18. Mind an unplug your modems, or da computer will git knackered
  19. Another fantastic site is www.bayanne.info I think most of their information comes from the Shetland Family History Society. They show info on people that have passed away.
  20. re Thomson Cup final, I heard that the Sannick team were told it was a friendly, so they weren't trying???
  21. The Gloup memorial is in Yell, and another nice one in Yell is the memorial for Bobby Tulloch at the Auld Haa at Burravoe. I think they should have statues of some of the great compsoers Shetland has had over the last 50 years eg. Tom Anderson, Ronald Cooper etc etc, their tunes are played world wide.
  22. Rick Nickerson when he had the Record Galley, recorded an EP with an Up Helly Aa squad and the brass band, they recorded all the Up Helly Aa songs. He might still have a copy.
  23. It has to be remembered that the Roddy Woomble gig was competing with some great live and free music on the pier, which doesn't happen every week. By the time it was finished it would have been to late for the North Star.
