  1. One simple solution would be to slice the top off Bressay and build a ginormous runway there, and then build a bridge so you can get to it. Dont go giving the Council Ideas...!!!
  2. Well Done to all those that turned out. Amazing show of force. Personal highlight was the coastguard helicopter display at 3am in the Morning
  3. For those of you that dont have facebook, here are a few samples of this gents work:
  4. I love how people jump to conclusions. He has got a new job and has resigned from his current one...?!
  5. MJC valeting, out at Gulberwick, is brally good. Good prices and amazing job and end result on the car. He has a few adverts on Shetlink or if you have facebook have a look for him and he has pictures of his work. Hope dat helps.

  10. Just another thought... Maybe a certain butcher should have kept his mouth shut?
  11. CHC Helicopter, the operator of the aircraft, has launched an inquiry and confirmed that the pilot had been suspended. A spokesman said the training exercise had been completed before the landing, and any costs incurred would be met by the company, not the taxpayer. She added: "We expect high standards of professionalism from all our employees and if we find these have not been met, we will take the appropriate action. "While the aircraft was previously engaged in a training exercise, it was operating a non-revenue flight at the time of the incident in question." The operator has confirmed the helicopter WAS NOT on a training flight at the time. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scotland/9216688/Coastguard-pilot-suspended-for-using-helicopter-to-pick-up-steaks-from-Orkney-butcher.html
  12. Headlines: - http://www.shetlandtimes.co.uk/2012/04/20/coastguard-helicopter-pilot-suspended-after-crew-pick-up-orkney-steaks - http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/4268325/Coastguard-on-Save-Our-Sirloin-call.html After seeing this article, I have to admit I am disappointed in the crew of the Helicopter. Dont get me wrong, I love seeing the Helicopter in and around Lerwick and the peerie een's adore seeing it at the Clickimin. But questions have to be asked as to why this happened! A lifesaving service costing thousands an hour to stay in the air is used to pick up the crews latest delivery of meat from Orkney. The last time they were in Aberdeen did they nip into M&S to collect there latest delivery as well. I am just disappointed because I thought a lot more of the service and the crew members. I have a lot of time and respect for these men and please dont get me wrong, I dont think there is menace in their actions. Its just the fact they lied about it and their justification not to mention the cost.
  13. ^^ Menu Available here: http://www.shetlandhotels.com/Shetland/Images/menu.pdf
  14. The Waterfront Bar & Grill is amazing. Was in there the other day for my dinner, we wandered in at about 1230'ish. We were promptly seated ordered our food and when it arrived it was amazing, have to admit, for a lunchtime snack its the best Ive had in Lerwick. What is even better is the price. Great food on par with the likes of Osla's if not cheaper. I would highly recommend.
  15. I dont mean to sound rude or patronizing, BUT This is Shetland, What exactly are you looking for, a Knockhill style rally track just outside Lerwick? I don't think this will EVER happen! A drag racing track, Once again I don't think it will Happen. As for a meeting place, there are plenty of places you can or could meet, however there will ALWAYS been the minority that will let you all down by abusing it. When this happens then an entirely innocent meeting of friends showing off each others cars can turn into a disturbance and nuisance and the next you know, you have members of the public annoyed and complaining and the police get involved, before you know it there is no meetings taking place anymore.
  16. Best Bloody post I'm see on here in a lang time! Well Done!!
  17. The police may very well log them, but what people are saying is the police don't respond to the complaints. For example: People complain about parking, yet there is not a cop car in sight. So dissatisfied at previous lack of response then people are inclined not to repeat the experience.
  18. Yep, I saw the berlingo too and blooming dangerous it was! I saw a school bus trying to negociate passing it. Also, the disabled spaces (as everywhere else in Lerwick) are regularly abused. I don't think we have a traffic warden and the police do ******* all as far as I can see. Also, why can't individual establishments such as Tesco, Clickimin etc., regulate their own disabled spaces?/ Likewise did you go into the Clickimin and complain?
  19. Rather than posting someones registration on Shetlink, have you been into the Centre to complain? They may be able to sort it out for you?! Does Shetland have a traffic warden? or should we start a name and shame thread?
  20. And it does a good job up an exhaust too..... Why not phone the police? It's no different to somebody constantly playing loud music, coupled with the fact that it is bloody dangerous if on single track roads, with kids playing nearby. If enough folk complain then the police should be duty bound to do something about it. Police don't respond to loud music anymore, they refer you to the SIC. The police obviously don't seem to bothered about the "boy racers". Easy pickings would be the Victoria Pier on a Saturday Night.
  21. Wan oh da pumps is 24 hour. So du should be alright onytime!
  22. Ive not heard of the fire service recruiting in a good while now. I myself would be interested if I could give up enough time for it.
