Muppet
A banner has just appeared on the Shetland news site saying "New school to be built at Clickimin - SIC decide" Full story to follow later. Looks like common sense has finally prevailed.

But there is apparently also talk about it being on the site of the old dump and something about contamination? and talk about seafield.....Like they say "Fart in Sumburgh...s**t yourself by lerwick"

Styles
I am just wondering how much the mess they have made of it all is going to cost us now? Its like a farce on tv the ammount of mess ups the council seems to make and keep makeing, it would be funny if it was not our money they are wasteing, its more like a tragedy. Para Handy
Found this headline link at the bbc news site today "Ex-pupil 'wanted to torch school"And my immediate reaction was to think that Jonathan Wills, was looking for an Ex A.H.S Pupil, to burn down the Old School. And then being slightly disappointed when it was about something else entirely. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8238370.stm
Mutton
As the design of a new school takes place it is imperative that the SIC planners ask Architect + Design Scotland to take a leading role in the project. Let's make this the best it can be.
paulb
http://www.shetlandtimes.co.uk/2009/11/05/talks-to-be-held-over-extending-clickimin-to-cope-with-school-pe-pupils oh please. they just need to shut it for public use when the school uses it. yet instead of saving they want to build it bigger. come on they really must be joking. cost savings mean spending less. build it bigger and you increase maintenance and running costs. most schools would snap your hand off if they were offered the sports facilities at clickimin. PJ of Hildisvik
You cannot shut the clickamin to the paying public when the school needs it!!.People travel long distances to use the facilitys and cannot be restricted to times outwith school hours. Many hundreds of people have D/D or pay for a year in advance to use the Clickamin. Carlos
It'd be fairly easy to crunch the numbers for Clickamin and see what effect shutting to the public between, say, 9 and 12 would have on the public. If public use is low then school use during that time would effectively be subsidising good quality facilities there for everybody into the future?
