Davie P
I’m sure the good councillors of Shetland will put Shetland interests first when they are choosing the right candidate…… After all they are our leaders! Our leaders? They're certainly their own leaders. They prove it time after time. Any examples or proof? Wheelsup
They don't run Shetland, they run after it.
Ghostrider
Oh, JHFC! More incestous mediocrity. http://www.shetlandtimes.co.uk/2018/02/28/maggie-sandison-named-new-sic-chief-executive Suffererof1crankymofo

Ghostrider
^ stoness! She's had her chance to show what she's about and what she can do in her years with the SIC. And its her track record that condemns her. Maybe a fine enough wife, I'm not sayin she's no, I don't know her, but definitely a very bad choice for the job. We've just had two 'check box', 'only following orders' career civil servants in succession at the top, WTF do we want with any more of the same. Lets hope too that unlike her declared 'inspiration' Morgan Goodlad, who as CEO, as we all remember, 'didn't know' what his brother the Councillor was involved with. That Mrs. Sandison, as CEO, will be a little more informed as to what her brother-in-law the Councillor may or may not be involved with, should circumstances where it is relevant ever arise, or we'll have history repeating itself yet again. Popular Post Suffererof1crankymofo
http://www.shetnews.co.uk/news/15970-sic-appoints-first-ever-female-chief-executive So, she's all about supporting the workforce and let's just ride rough-shod and not bother to ask the service users what they want because, according to the link, it's all about the staff. Well Mags, you seem to think that ROSPA's stance on blinding bungee cords for wheelie bins should be ignored and deem them to be a good solution, regardless of the risks. Years ago you had the circling dog poo with pink paint, that was short lived too. As for other Heads of Department? Somehow, I'm not visualising you coming down hard on them, it all seems a tad too cosy. There are many good staff working for the SIC, but there's many who, quite frankly, need booting out. And it starts with the top. Now unless a certain online publication has been incredibly picky about what they printed, the article illustrates Mag's mindset - it's all about the workforce and how they know best - it's about time they started to remember they are there to serve the PUBLIC, the service users.I'm with Frances144 and Ghostie here. Ghostrider
Uh, oh! Better watch out, is 'Mighty Maggie' or her minions already weilding their big stick. It would seem that comment critical of her appointment has been removed from a local media website, while comment praising it has been allowed to remain. Censorship? Surely not....... wotsit
She loves her music trips or festivals , so long as it is in her own time and her own expense, no unnecessary jollies.
George.
She loves her music trips or festivals , so long as it is in her own time and her own expense, no unnecessary jollies. So 100% of it is in no way funded by the S. I. C - i.e. you, me and the rest of the people that walk this earth?
Popular Post Ghostrider
Yeah, well. Two plus grand per week every week, at our expense buys an awful lot of gigs. I hope at least she's going to decent venues and seeing decent bands to waste in on anyway. No Mareel tat for her then, like the rest of us who pay her wages have to be satisfied with . suuusssiiieee
£104,000K a year, it's a hard life being a CEO. Let's see what she can come up with (pink spraying excluded of course) unless some ends up in a certain chamber. The jury's very much out on her. Wheelsup
Phew! If any of the above had said anything positive about her, i'd be extremely worried.
wotsit
Unless a complete outsider got the job, she will find it difficult to pull rank on her friends in close knit community, and not upset her staff, upsetting the general public will not matter. It appears all too close,Scratching backs and all that, but then what’s new in this Council. Suffererof1crankymofo
Suffererof1crankymofo
Phew! If any of the above had said anything positive about her, i'd be extremely worried.Apparently on the radio she said something along the lines of "as well as the public". So perhaps a certain online publication did only choose snippets. There, I've been positive. For the negative (well, I sooo wouldn't want to upset you with reality) - why the hell if she's one of the best (allegedly) communicators the SIC has got, hasn't she issued a press release putting that certain online publication in its place, and pointing out that she is about listening to the public too (if she did say that)? I didn't hear what she said on the radio but either way, it was after her quotes were published online.
