  1. Hear, hear. Well done to Chris and Andy.
  2. Oh well - semi-amusing attempt to poke fun at the sweary filter didn't pan out as expected. sausage it
  3. Apologies - mine was a replacement, not a repair.
  4. I've had mine fixed by M&R Gair through AutoGlass.
  5. A quick suggestion that, if you didn't see Ian Bairnson at Sandwick tonight make sure you see him somewhere, sometime over the weekend. The man's a genius.
  6. Here du goes EM... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYvjqP6IEVM&feature=player_embedded
  7. Could you just ask your crofter-neighbour if he'd allow you to plant trees without going through the formalities of land acquisition? There might even be croftery grants for arboreal activities...(I mean for them to claim...not you)
  8. Try £30 million a mile...in 2006. http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2006/dec/13/guardiansocietysupplement3
  9. Yes, White Oak did tickle my cinematic taste buds. A thoroughly enjoyable evening's viewing and listening.
  10. Don't know if it was intentional or not, but that's one of the funniest things I've read on here.
  11. In the UK, insurance is compulsory if you wish to drive on the public roads. There are a huge number of factors that can affect an insurance quotation e.g. age of driver, age of vehicle, experience, type of vehicle, gender of main driver, where it will be garaged, where it will be driven and probably many, many more. There are any number of insurance companies who will give you an online quote if you can be bothered to continually fill in your details on the multitude of sites that exist. Sometimes (apparently) you can put your details into one of those compare sites but get a different quote if you go to the company's own website. Not me The registered keeper of the car gets the tax reminder approximately one month before the vehicle tax is due. this seems to depend on the vehicle's emissions (as quoted by the manufacturer) and there's a sliding scale from £not much to £ouch. The agency that deals with motoring matters in the UK is the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency). Their website will probably have more comprehensive answers to your questions. But not about insurance costs.
  12. Weel done Whalsay. Keep it polished for Sandwick next year...
  13. Weel done Whalsay. Keep it polished for Ness United next year
  14. Just remember that Sandwick Social Club is a club i.e. members and guests only. But it's not usually a problem getting signed in - as long as you behave. With the Licensing (Scotland) Act of 2005 clubs are having to be more stringent in their record-keeping than they maybe have been previously but, as I say, it's not usually any problem.
  15. EM (why Madam?) doesn't appear to have expressed a strong opinion against yours...simply suggested that aquatic mammals would have no concept of innocence. And that if we are to assign such characteristics to such an ecosystem, the most deserving would be those which cause least harm to other higher order organisms. In my opinion.
  16. You're one of the only two people who can say that to jz based on last season's performance.
  17. [***Mod edit - topic moved and title changed***] Anybody familiar with the life cycle of a forky tail? I've found a fairly white one but it looks way too big to be a hatchling. D'you get albino forky tails?
