  1. I go every week, its fine! its nice to go and sit in, some food is cooked fresh so u have to waite but its fine, enjoy!
  2. Well in the danger of getting my heed bitten aff i think all children should get music as a subject at school, just like sport, drama and other subjects, but if you want extra above that then you should pay for it like anyother hobby, why should others pay for the selected few, most of which will drop it as soon as the either leace school or hit adulthood, you want it you pay for it! I think Shetland is past the days of freebees now.
  3. Thank you for posting that, not all candidates have bothered to come out or like one lk north cadidates have got kids to bung leflets in doors, or they have just a webpage, so actualy getting contact personally to some of them is vaired. Having all the info in the one place is most helpfull. My number one is remaning the same, as last time, but the fight for number 2 votes is harder. Some i don't think i will even give them a number. This is the time i could do with a performance indicator on the big subjects like Mareel, windmills, highschool and some other high profle decisions taken in the last council, and if they or their family has coined it in over the time. Knowing who did what may help in the decission making prosess.
  4. They are quite a few home schoolers up here, phone the Home Link teacher at the Bruce Family Centre
  5. i dont have a problem atall with the guys getting ome shopping while they are passing, when im out with the works car i sometimes pop in and get some messages too, no harm done. I'm sure the rest of us would do the same. if they were there anyway, then good on them! Next time, can they get some for me?
  6. Why are you arguing the toss about Pa Systems? Would it not be better to just leave them to sort that out themselves, then when they have made the policys and opened the place, if you dont like it then, come back, but this is just blocking up the inbox. I would add the Shetland Box Office is part run by Shetland Arts and the Council, and considering most of the things on it for sale is SA, then saying its nothing to do with them isna 100% true.
  7. Download adblock plus (it's free) I haven't seen an internet add in years. WOW Thanks i cant see the adds now. thats great I dont mind local adds but most of them seem to be nothing to do with shetlink or shetland thanks again
  8. I wisna getting at you, the seats at the theatre are fine I just think they need a bit of wider isle inbetween the rows, so we can get wir legs in better. It needs also to be pointed out that the people building Mareel are also the owners of the Garison, and not diffrent folk, so it will be good to see how the trust manages the Garison after Mareel opens, which I'm sure they will.
  9. I agree, its here now lets just enjoy it, being able to watch the big films advertised on tv will be great. You can do this now and have done for several years in the Garrison. the difrence with Mareel will be that all films will be on at the same time as they are south, i cant waite! films are on fortnightly now untill Mareel opens and as fas as Ive heard not many of the 'film buffs' are going. blaming the seats just proves you not that committed
  10. well said, I've flashed a few over the weekend for having no lights at all or the tinest side lights (that are for no use) put them full on - in Shetland we should never need to use our side lights while driving. I always put my full lights on either at work or in my own car. side lights are only used while parked and waiting for someone!
  11. This is a dead duck of a question as SIC will not need to give shetland arts any future money as Shetland Arts have said many times in the local press and in the business plan they won't need any extra money.
  12. I realy don't think it would make much diffrence if it was on or not now. For the majority of folk, Mareel will have 3 conserts on a week all year round, so the need for the foy wont be needed anymore. They can always have a craft event on or they could put the sheds out somewhere for rent over the summer periods - like a weekend market around the cross or through the town?
  13. take it you got a visit? u going to get some? whats the cost like? whats the pay back? how many did they offer you for the size of your roof? I'm quite interested in getting it myself but didnt appreceate the cold call
  14. I did notice the dramatic change to the outside of the Brae Hotel, who couldn't! however, if you say they have bucked up allready, then they have nothing to worry about, so why have they been pleepsin to the press, 'oh poor wee us' so they should be shouting bring it on..... (the use of the word 'they' is not directly aimed at the Brae Hotle, its who ever moaned in the articals in the press in general)
  15. That seems to be the business way up here, rather than buck up and compeat with compertition, they seem to moan and try to sabatise others so we the customer has a limited choise. (like they did to Hodge, toll clock and tescos) I'd say to the other 2 hotels its time to compeat for your customers and not sit back doing nothing, so get the decorators in and 'do' up your hotels invest in your staff/products, and you might do quite well out of the situation. You could even try some premotions or discounts to get customers into your busnies and your village. good luck
  16. You should do it, being s south moother dusna matter your a resident and thats enough for me, smith and harper building would be good, parking over the road, slightly oot of the toon. The main shop could be the bar and the toy shop bit could be the kitchen, it even has a celler for the bar store.. We need something diffrent here, All the pubs here have merged into the same kind, So something new and well run would maybe buck the rest up. Be somewhere nice to get some good and reasonable pub grub before going out to the cinema or a show?
  17. I will be asking what they think of the Judane thousands, Mareel, and council service cuts where corprate services don't cut anything. Only then i will deside wha gets my vote
  18. they have phoned me but i declined the offer, i said i was going for heat source pump instead, but id be interested in hearing if its worth contacting them back
  19. I thought that style of teaching went out in the 70's
