Cygni
What a stunning sight, eclipse over Ronas Hill and the dawn in the other direction. Shame my camera is pants! (*** Mod - merged ***)
Pooks
Happening just about now over here but the bloody clouds have come in and are currently giving me no chance to see it. The worst part being that I just got an 8" Dobsonian and I am gonna miss the chance to use it!
stilldellin
Okay Pooks, maybe not an 8" Watsonian ( tocht dat wiz a m/bike sidecar ) but here is a scene du shud be familiar wi. MuckleJoannie
We got a brilliant view of the eclipse from the East Voe of Scalloway. Pity I was too busy getting everyone organised to go out to have time to take photos. According to this story http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12042984 It is the first total lunar eclipse in three years and the first to fall on the Winter Solstice - the shortest day of the year - in nearly 400 years. Pooks
Cracking pic. I got a view of it in-between the clouds as it was moving over the N/NW part of the sky, by then however it was too late. Nice and bright and white.
Longdog
Here's a brief succession on the shadow towards full eclipse http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/h450/moder-dye/ecplipse.jpg At near full eclipse... http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/h450/moder-dye/DSC_0091.jpg
DizzyKipper
I had a great view while waiting at the bus stop. Was all red/brown for me.
Ghostrider
I know its the time of year for such things (allegedly), but what's the very bright "star" in the east just now? I'm assuming its probably some planet. Its best seen later in the night and early morning. By around 6 or 7am its getting pretty low in the sky, in the approx ESE or SE by E as seen from the Ness. KOYAANISQATSI
Not sure who, where or when I heard it but there was something about Jupiter being closest to Earth for decades and bright in December. May be it; maybe not
