From SIC officer: The actual wording of the byelaw states that: These byelaws shall not apply - (a) on 31 December, from 6pm until the end of that day; ( on 1 January, until 6am; © on the last Tuesday of January (Lerwick Up Helly Aa); and (d) on the Wednesday following the last Tuesday of January. Often it can be an unwritten requirement of the job it seems..? I apologise if I ruffled any feathers by posting on this thread. I thought if a thread was to be stopped it would be in the hands of the administrators & they would lock it, preventing any more posts if they thought it was neccessary.
