fionajohn reacted to wotsit in Self-sustaining Shetland
We need more smart classy restaurants to open up to give choice, the choice is very limited in Shetland, where the food and surroundings inside and out are to a high standard.
I really hope he pushes this all the way, it is what Shetland needs along with some smarter pubs/bars that also serve quality meals.

fionajohn reacted to George. in Self-sustaining Shetland
I wonder just how many of the S.I.C find themselves able to comfortably walk across Lerwick, how many find that they have to use the bus service and how many blatantly order somebody else to do it for them, and whether that has anything to do with the fact that the proposed restaurant is having to fight, tooth and nail, because the S.I.C think that the bus service that they provide is utterly crap.

This needs a major review . The planning department is not fit for purpose.

fionajohn reacted to whalsa in Self-sustaining Shetland
I think what this incident has highlighted is that many people are not happy about the way planning decisions are carried out in Shetland and how the policies appear to be open to interpretation in such a way as it seems to be different rules for different people because of decisions being so inconsistent.
If we set up a new Government free of the interference from the EU/UK then we could create a planning policy which better suits Shetland and hopefully get a system which works better for everyone.

apart from those living in lerwick nearly every-one else has to use a car if they wish to eat out ,in my case it would be half the distance to parkhouse as it is to lerwick so the council is adding to my carbon footfall.
it would also give much needed employment in the north end as we can't all work at sullon voe

fionajohn got a reaction from Suffererof1crankymofo in How to prevent pain and ignore illnesses in the NHS
why can't the all the staff work a 5 out of 7 days a week?years ago i was in the ambulance service and our hours were changed to this system a slight rise in pay(could be paid for with the withdrawal of on call money)weekends are just another working day no need for time or double time.
bonus of this system is that people could get a routine x ray appointment for these days ensuring that the staff have a workload the same as they do monday-friday

fionajohn reacted to blue beetle in Citroen Garage
For anyone unfortunate enough to have entrusted their car into the hands of Hillside motors recently it will come as no surprise that they went bust. Our car hasnt been the same since it was there.
With waiting times of up to a month to get an appointment in a Lerwick garage and at least a week in the country you have to be a special kind of useless to make a garage fail in Shetland nowadays.
Maybe he should have filled it full of one arm bandits. He,s an expert in those apparently. LOL

unfortunatly most of the media is controlled by Westmonster and therefor they must obey the masters on what they put out ...fortunatly Scotland has a different legal system so anyone with a modicum of wit can ignore the would be controllers ...i pray Scotland can be independant shortly then we can function as a fair and careing society not controlled by the higher English elite who are still in the 18th centuary and think we are a part of the empire

Anybody else ever had an incoming by Courier package which had obviously been opened somewhere en route, and more than probably, extremely badly botched back together again?
If so, any idea by whom, where and why?

Hopefully David Mundell, and whoever else had their fingers in the pie, will pay for what they are guilty of, too.

If you muddy the waters enough it gets neigh impossible to sort truth from fiction ...that is what the right honourable (now that is a twist on language ) is doing ...if he was an honourable person not grubbing to stay as long as he can bleed the money from the job he woud fall on his sword ..but as he is a person of questionable trust he will contrive to hang on in the hope memories are short (not in the case of the people he decieved )

Shetland was pledged by Denmark to Scotland by marriage but the pledge was never paid so in the passage of time can Denmark recall the debt and claim Shetland as part of their territory .could be a very nice earner as the most oil fields are in near proximity to Shetland considering sea areas and the designated distance laid down for that area

If we are simply voting for independence, and then once we get it decide how to run things then Wee Eck has muddied the waters with his white paper/manifesto. Perhaps he should step down now, that he has got his referendum. I fear that once he has power he will be reluctant to give it up lightly
