Well, not entirely Tee. A couple of divergent posts, one highly dubious, people may come back with some genuine comment on what is, by it's very nature, a crap subject.

It's an interesting point actually, that given Hatman's absurd comment on the matter, perhaps people who currently take their pet pooches along the road to crap on someone else's doorstep and leave it there will care no more whether the faecal deposit is painted pink or has a rotating beacon planted upon it. They are perhaps more likely to scoff at the poor souls running around on turd patrol who have to paint them.

For a time anyway.

My dog did a poo tonight and I was horrified that I couldn't pick it all up as he had a bout of diarrhoea!! I even got it all over my hands as I wrestled between him and the plastic bag!!

Nobody yet has mentioned here on this debate loose poos!! if a dog has diarrhoea what the hell do you do? I must admit it is embarrasing trying to clean this up with only plastic bags. You just can't do it!!

So what do you do?

My dog usually poops in the garden before I walk him!!

We fought for ages to get bins up the sound area. Now there are two yet you still find dog poo everywhere. I always pick it up. As for when ur dog has nice lovely watery poops it is VERY difficult to get it cleaned up. But you can only do your best really. Anyone have suggestions when they are watery? Well any other suggestions than carrying a water bottle around to squirt whatever you cant pick up? Maybe someone could go onto Dragons Den with an invention?!

Oh and also...does anyone else find it very messy when dog poop get sprayed pink and then when the dog poop is gone it looks like someone has been spray painting the paths?!

The Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005

The Dog Control Orders (Prescribed Offences and Penalties, etc.)

Regulations 2006.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the intention of Rossendale Borough

Council to introduce Dog Control Orders pursuant to its powers under

the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.

The following four Dog Control Orders are proposed.

1. The Fouling of Land by Dogs Borough of Rossendale Order 2009

This Order will apply to any land which is within the administrative area

of the Borough of Rossendale and which is:

i) open to the air (which includes land which is covered but open to the

air on at least one side); and

ii) to which the public are entitled or permitted to have access with or

without payment .

The Order will require, should a dog defecate at any time on any land to

which this Order applies, the owner or person who is in charge of the dog

to remove the faeces from the land immediately.

Exemptions will be made for blind people with guide dogs and disabled

people using trained assistance dogs.

2. The Keeping of Dogs on Leads Borough of Rossendale Order 2009

This Order will apply to all cemeteries, allotments, car parks and formal

or memorial ornamental gardens owned and maintained by Rossendale

Borough Council; and to all highways including the public roads,

pavements, verges, footways and carriageways managed by Lancashire

County Council.

The Order will require people in charge of a dog or dogs to keep it/them

on a lead.

without payment .

The Order will require people on such land to put a dog on a lead when

told to do so by an authorised officer.

Exemptions will be made for blind people with guide dogs and disabled

people using trained assistance dogs.

4. The Dogs Exclusion Borough of Rossendale Order

This Order will apply to play areas and sports or activity facilities owned

and maintained by Rossendale Borough Council or managed by

Rossendale Leisure Trust.

The Order will prohibit people from taking dogs into such areas.

Exemptions will be made for blind people with guide dogs and disabled

people using trained assistance dogs.

Fixed Penalty Notices.

Rossendale Borough Council proposes to issue fixed penalty notices to

enforce the Dog Control Orders above, as prescribed by Section 59 of

the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.

The payment would be £75 within 28 days (or £50 if paid within the first

14 days). Failure to pay a fixed penalty notice may result in prosecution.

Consultation.

Copies of the Orders and a list with accompanying maps, showing sites

with specific orders not common to all, will be available for inspection,

I notice people are starting to tie bags of dog poo to the fence between the Bridge of Fitch and the Black Gaet. I don't fancy going by there the next time there is gale!

(for those of you who are not familiar with the area there is long section of the old road that is popular for dog walking)

The power of Shetlink! The next day they had gone and I just noticed a no dog fouling sticker on the fence post. :)

Yes, I suppose I do! However, I don't know how it would apply with a dog hopping from one private garden into another, attempting to leave a present in the middle of the nice new lawn (fella chased it off mid-squat) and digging up the remaining nasturtium plant that the council didn't accidentally strim the other day (new guy, made a mistake and stimmed my flowerbed). Being a woman I have already tried Plan A: Talking nicely with dog's owner. It didn't work.
