Piddly
Just when I thought prices were on the drop, Leasks have put up thier diesel by 2p Still 2p cheaper at Sutherlands though Sutherlands will probably be 2p higher by the end of the day, along with the rest
shetlandpeat
I am still using the same tin of oil I got from Grantfield Garage for my bike last year, how good is that. At this rate I will get o.oo64 pence per mile, fantastic. Grantfield were the cheapest for chain oil.
stilldellin
Price differential between diesel and petrol now 45p a gallon at Mainlands, seems for the private car owner on a moderate mileage the scales have tipped back to petrol. icepick239
Surely, it's time for all the 4 x 4 Erses to get really fit.Aim, lets say, for Up Helly Aa by good BRISK WALKING, but nae fags during training.. enjoy... PS some South Mainlanders may have to be excused due to being worn-out ....
paulb
icepick by any chancedo you live in town. those 4x4 are not toys.
PJ of Hildisvik
Yes, but what percentage of the "immaculate, shiny" 4x4's actually go off road
paulb
pj yes there are some new ones about but if they are used to get to work in the winter conditions then its reasonable. our old one which is now off the road is used on the croft. our 15 year old hilux cost the same in fuel as a people carrier. PJ of Hildisvik
I've nothing against 4x4's, i use to have landrovers when i was fishing. It doesn't matter whether you drive a small eco car or a Hummer, it's the bar steward fuel company who are blatantly putting up the price of fuel here cos they can get away with it.And nothing the two parlimentarians do will change that.Infact the more Tavish and Carmichael moan about the situation the more often the price go's up
Sunkissedeclipse
It is getting so bad i am contemplating selling my car and getting a bike, i could lose a few pounds aswell lol
MuckleJoannie
THE GOVERNMENT discount on fuel duty that will save island communities 5p on each litre of petrol and diesel should be in place by spring, according to northern isles MP Alistair Carmichael. http://www.shetnews.co.uk/news/2148-fuel-discount-just-months-away.html
daveh
Certainly the 155.9p per litre of diesel, that I will pay when I next fill up, is ludicrous. A 5p reduction, whether inclusive or exclusive of VAT, will not make a great deal of difference but is something, though.
hairyian
Certainly the 155.9p per litre of diesel, that I will pay when I next fill up, is ludicrous. A 5p reduction, whether inclusive or exclusive of VAT, will not make a great deal of difference but is something, though. Don't forget, for now anyway, 3p of that reduction vanishes by UK Gov increasing duty further in January. So, Alastair still just has to keep pestering (his) Government to actually get the scheme running. 'soon' , 'not long ' 'asap' are the libdem words for'next year', or 'the year after next' . Will be able to fix the definition once it really does happen ... could be pretty much two years after election. But will it really have been worth all his trouble ? I predict the pump price will go something like this .. Week 1: 1.56Week 2: 1.59rebate kicks inWeek 3: 1.54Week 4: 1.56Week5Local MP begs, yet again, for his own Government to 'investigate' whilst not having the guts to consider his position in said Government.
