  1. Walls bus running late. It's only just going into walls.
  2. oooh, ooh how much? take it it's got working "signal boost" UMA? child is now fed up with Vodaripoff.
  3. Floods in Brae too, some lovely pics outside of the central garage going round facebook.
  4. Can I just draw your attention to the original topic? I'm sure so many folk would needlessly stick themselves through chemo for a whole £85 a week out of you hard working tax payers instead of getting themselves a proper job. It'd just kind of be nice if you could pass the information and the e-petition around please
  5. http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Aboutus/News/Latest_News/DWPproposestoforcechemotherapypatientstoundergostressfulbenefitchecks.aspx There's a e-petition here http://e-activist.com/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=70&ea.campaign.id=12513
  6. Walls bus heading for Scalloway/Town and back to Scalloway running about 25mins late. Drivers out there - please think how hard it is to drive an automatic bus in this weather, a little courtesy goes a long way.
  7. took me a while to find this but may of use to those further along the route, Waas bus to town is running about 15mins late.
  8. I seem to remember the rates changing about 10years ago, I remember a lot of 3rd sector complaining about it, plus there's the water meters & insurance, the insurance is actually quite high as you're working with high numbers of volunteers. We had to stop having adults with additional support needs when we moved premises as were no longer covered by their insurance and EVERY volunteer would have needed to be SCRO checked/disclosed even if they weren't working the same shift.
  9. I must admit, my PLEAS to various sellers, service centres etc will be to no avail if even using other delivery agents my goods will still fall into those vandals hands. surely there's a monopoly thing if the do all the goods and cargo for Shetland.
  10. mucklejo can also be found @ http://www.facebook.com/groups/189040037834142/
  11. It's next weekend I'm worried about, oh the joys of a shetland winter
  12. I know we've been having problems out west. At 1st it was great. Now can get signal only in 1spot in the house.
  13. It's been many years since I was in cuba, but found eating from the popular street stalls was a fraction of the price and far nicer than the tourist eateries. Things have changed since I was there so can't really give much advice, I played the stupid blonde tourist card, which got me out of a few scrapes, health service is fantastic and avoid air con. spent most of our time in Havana http://www.hotelnacionaldecuba.com/en/home.asp has a wonderful bar, and you meet the most interesting people in there (spy watching - lol) and we used to meet up in http://www.hotelinglaterra-cuba.com/ for drinks before going out. Most of the places we used to go to were closed down after the riots, plus we had government issued passes to go were others counldn't. The camels were definately worth a trip, but when full were quite stifling. piccie below. Wawas are any bus smaller than a camel, not just minibuses. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bf/Camel_bus_in_Havana%2C_2009.jpg Don't know how bad the secret police are now, do remember to be careful when speaking politics, REMEMBER the blockade, simple things we take for granted are difficult and expensive to get for Cubans. oh and when buying cigars and cigarillos check the packet and where they're made, many of the tourist shops will sell the cheaper European imports. Finally, probably too late, remember to get a tourist insert visa, should be less a bother than it used to be, but it always makes it easier when passing through the States.

    Airport cafe

Think you'll find we do, we have a few more staff so don't need to move from one area to another as often, but I'd never touch food after handling money without washing my hands 1st (for example). Occasionally I do have to apologise and say "I'll just have to wash my hands".
  15. Have just been informed by the service centre replacing my daughters faulty adapter, that the fully working netbook they MADE us return with the power supply arrived BROKEN. They're having to replace the harddrive and the laptop casing. NOT surprised after hearing the CRASH as we watched the Driver THROW the crate into the van. Furious, especially as it took so long for the company involved to admit they even had the crate to pick it up in. Which according to the service centre would "protect the item from any damage in transit". AND YES I HAVE PUT IN COMPLAINTS - with any luck the courier service will look again at which agent it uses here in Shetland.
  16. Odd? we get our Freeview from Bressay here near Walls, signal is fine, even the HD channels?
  17. last time I ordered electricals from amazon (a £20 DVD player) it came on Up Helly Aa wednesday with WDA! Ordered on the sunday night with free shipping. Living out near Waas I figured that was one of the best bargins ever, and the fastest FREE shipping I could ask for. Instead of paying extra for a certain company to lose it for a few weeks... months... COMPLETELY
  18. I usually get mine fae Andersons, they're good shetland skins, but are processed south, none of the bad smell some skins can have. (I've had 4 from them)
  19. with brandy, mushroom, cracked black pepper, onion, garlic and cream. ooh and chips.
  20. Which can I ask is more offensive then, a person of partial north african decent being called a Pakki or someone fae shetland being called a toonie? Apparently the later requires a phone call to the parents, where as the the former the parents found out through gossip. Child never the less is grounded over the Halloween weekend. What happened? Toonies, Yocals did they become racist at the same time as soothmoother? does that make shetlander a racist term aswell?

    Clive's Record Shop

Still a little confused so you didn't shop in Clives when he moved to the current premisies (his sisters premisies) because his sister in 15years or so time would become a councilor that you disagree with?
  22. That'll mean it's got a while to go yet then. Hermes have a BAD rep themselves, in their case they're not too good at handing over goods to streamline. So delays are not always streamline's fault.
  23. Vodaripoff does have best overall coverage, O2 is the next best, but Orange/T-mobile cover areas that O2 and vodaripoff don't, so a £10 pay as you go orange phone is worth every penny (especially when travelling abroad and for Orange wednesdays when travelling south)
  24. these crimes MUST be reported to make the Stats. Once they are at a sufficient numbers the selfish toss pots can be caught. It would be the only way really to highlight the problem. Your Councillors and MSP/MP/MEP can make a representation as well if approached. So when you use your mobile phone as a pedestrian, to report the selfish cow you almost hit you and you're told there's nothing they can do as it's your word against those in the car.
