I wonder how many folk do not post here is case NulVoid decides to crap on everything by responding with the usuan barrage of garbage ?

In fairness, there may just be one or two points of interest buried in there somewhere, but fom my own personal position, I prefer to skip his/her/it's entire post.  Once, that is, after I have managed to scroll past a series of awful graphics.
NB;  Pretty pictures do not prove anything.  Try reasoned argument instead. If I wanted to see pictures, I would buy The Beano...

^Corrrrrong again. I've just come to learn that folk like you aren't worth the time.

You eased yourself in here and have somehow managed to make a forum that was already a shallow version of itself somewhere even less worthy of folks time. Bravo. But I'm sure you'll take that as some form of affirmation of your set-in-stone and over-inflated "views" somehow being validated. Best of luck with that!

I do not agree that something which is dead has (or can) do anything to be reborn. That would be "silly". Even speaking metaphorically, it would be equally silly to think of the UK and it's former global domination ever returning. To wish for that is decidedly troublesome as that would be to wish for all the sharn we pulled.

And, yes, I have a counterargument... but I'll save my time for more fruitful endeavours like shouting at shadows, holding a reasoned debate with my left shoe and trying to get this damned chocolate teapot to work.

"...the fishing industry had been sacrificed by Johnson..."

“...In the end-game, the prime minister made the call and caved in on fish, despite the rhetoric and assurances...”

“...There will of course be an extensive public relations exercise to portray the deal as a fabulous victory, but it will inevitably be seen by the fishing industry as a defeat...”

Nope, there's no reason to make any sort of counter-point when it gets met with your endless and wasteful waffle e.g. you struggle with the basic concept of something being "false" when provided with basic and clear-cut actual evidence of it being false. As a general rule it's short shrift for folk that talk like a 5 year old with their fingers in their ears.

    Irrelevant garbage.

Norðr vegr. Yarn, yarn, yarn, blah, blah, blah, blether, blether, blether, chit-chat, chit-chat, chit-chat, yarn, yarn, yarn, blah, blah, blah, blether, blether, blether, chitchat, chitchat, chitchat, oh no, I've bent my ear, babble, babble, babble, dirty laundry, more dirty laundry, yet more dirty laundry, yak, yak, yak, gossipry, gossipry, gossipry, earful, earful, earful, dribble, dribble, dribble (A thin stream of liquid), issue yet more garbage sporadically and in small bits, drivel, issue even more sporadically, and in even smaller bits, slether, slether, slether, yet more complete garbage but now it's miniscule which refers to "Meaningless", or so I believe, when I'm bouncing slowly along the ground.......... Regardless, when we all realise that we have to leave Norðr vegr by jumping into the Atlantic at the north of Havøysund, at the top end of the way northwards, which is the other end of the bit of country that is all too often referred to as, "Suðrvegar", but, no doubt, one of us will disagree (But who cares?). Once I've realised that suicide is probably the best way out and I've dived into the Atlantic, off the pier at Havøysund, swum nor'-nor'-west to Svalbarg and had a couple of wee drams, I'll tie my feet together at the dock, paddle down to the end of the slip and drown. It'll be the best way to go. But not every single one of us will ever stop yacking rubbish.    I'll just have to do it, it's the only way out

I think SITAMS were alive and trading along time ago. The labelling and boxes look vintage (unless that's just the look).  I am also surprised no one has heard of them.  I might do some trawling about too.

Thank you, George for the links.  I am intrigued.  When the weather closes in, I will put my internet terrier hat on!  Will report back.

That's fair comment George re both Gaelic and Norn, if we wish to go that far back.

Apart from that I have to commend you on your analysis of good grammar and the excellent example you gave, re "helping uncle Jack off his horse." or other amended grammatical version.

    Hilarious! Thankyou for that!

I do find grammar to be important whilst calling people idiots and morons [*]; to do so with poor grammar and punctuation just makes you look like a pot having a go at a kettle.

I love grammar, good spelling and sentence construction.

I admit, though, I am not perfect when I am writing, but I do try.  (And I love a comma), (and I love brackets), (and I am trying very hard not to love a million exclammation marks!!!!) and..... I watch no Youtube films in anyone's posts unless they are totally relevant to Shetland, have Shetland in them or I made them.

And long answers.  Jeezo. I get bored of reading.

And when a topic starts to veer off because someone has a grudge or just wants to make their point regardless of the ruddy original post where, tbh, very often a simple yes or no type reply would do fairly sufficiently.

I digress.  Space..... it's out there. That's all I know.

To quote DNA "Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.”

    Grammar is important.

Capital letters are the difference between, "Helping your Uncle Jack off a horse", and, "helping your uncle jack off a horse."

    I love apostrophes!

Wheelsup is quite correct, it is in fact Person's. The apostrophe indicates possession, which in this case is the "argument or question". If the possession was a plural noun of course, then apostrophe would generally come at the end, e.g. Persons', though I notice this usage is becoming more and more defunct.

The word persons is a functional plural of the word person, for example "Person or persons unknown". Though as grammar is something that changes over time, and many writers now use "people" instead of "persons".

With this said. I do agree, and written structure is being sadly lost in a world of 128 character limits and digital soundbites.

As a disclaimer. This post has not been checked for spelling or grammar

You could try Shetland Broadband if you haven't already. They are a very helpful, courteous, actually know what they are on about and will be abreast of what's coming hardware wise at a local level. It may all be for naught but they'll be able to give you better info than on here it would appear. Best of luck Frances!
