Trout81
If you could change 1 thing in Shetland, what would it be and why?
piggywiggie
the building of a pointless cinema!
Keedle
Absolutely nothing !!! Except the godsawful shops . I know its a bit early for xmas but local shops seem to hang up some fairy lights and a bit o tinsel amongst what they have had in stock since nineteen oatcake and expect us to buy it ! Thank god for the internet .
GypsyScy
I only wish the travel fares were cheaper, so my family and friends could afford to visit me or we could nip over to see them easier!
Medziotojas
^Agreed. I would also like to see the ferry link with Hantsholm re-established for ease of travel to/from Europe.
Askelon09
I'm gonna have to say those in the office who decide where and how money is spent in the ever knowledgable council!
piggywiggie
I dont mind prices of things...I suppose my look at it is if I go away rarely I appreaciate it more when I do!
JAStewart
Cheaper travel. It's certainly one thing that will keep me away from Shetland. If I live in Shetland and want to go on holiday, I have to pay hundreds to leave the Isle? Really not worth it.
Spinner72
^^ I have a different outlook on that now after spending a few lenghty holidays with family in Lewis. Our travel seems expensive, yes, but is much more convenient. The £14 ferry trip from Stornoway lands you in Ullapool too late to get anywhere befoer the next day. Our £19 ferry trip lands us in Aberdeen right next to the train and bus stations at 7am most of the time. The 1 thing I would change? Have everybody go back to peat fires. Not becasue it's "green" (which is debateable) but for the social and health aspects..
shetlandpeat
Your right about fires, bring back fireside chairs. I live in a new build house, hot and stuffy or breezy and cold, and very expensive to heat, no doors, open plan craps
Ghostrider
Turn the clock back 30 or 40 years, and try again.
khitajrah
The bus schedule. I would like to be able to get into town without having to spend a whole day (8:45-5) wandering the streets with the kids. Just one more bus would be ideal, one at midday so one could either just spend the morning or the afternoon in town.
2lb_saucermeat
A law implying "Anyone caught breaking the law under the influence of an illegal substance be admonished to Forvik Isle (although carefully to avoid the traps)"
Para Handy
Yes you cant beat the smell of a good peat fire O! Go back in time and abolish the house of commons and every bent crook that habit the place
nessman2009
Compulsory to wave to everybody whilst driving As happens in Whalsa, far better than the usual waiting in passing places or wherever and letting people go past and they don't even acknowledge you exist!! Grrrrrrrrr
