Road condition reports - Snow, Rain, Fog, etc

came home on the 12.30 bus. drifting on the Tresta side of the Scord of Weisdale, Burnside Bixter, and the Houlmalees

Drifting at Scalloway/Trondra area.

lot of drifting on the bixter - aith road. the alps road 4x4 only at the moment. a small amount of drifting on the parkhall - skeld road.

be careful its not nice out there.

Anybody been up Da Wart in North Nesting? I heard the school bus was only going as far as the Kirkabister junction. I'm thinking I may need to go via Laxo to get to Billister.

There's particularly bad drifting below the north Sandwick junction ( from Setter to Central ), and in Levenwick between the surgery and the shop. I decided the latter was impassable in daylight, I certainly wouldn't recommend it in darkness

Just got stuck at that very spot in Levenwick!! Managed to get the car parked out of the way.

Made it to Billister but the roads are very bad. I opted for the long way round.

weisdale hill is pretty good noo, peerie bit drifted in at the top but nothing that isnt manageable

Widna recommend the Weisdale tae Sandwater (Kergord) road we a 2WD Vehicle, wis passable at half 5 but the van was boddamin oot on the snow in the middle and wis blowin in all the time.

Was going to town for work tonight from Mossbank, had a total whiteout going up from Firth to Dales Lea, no idea which way was up let alone where I was heading! Then when I got to Voe & crawled out at the junction, the back end just went its own way into the oncoming traffic - I'd like to thank the van driver who missed me by inches for taking what little avoiding action he could. Suffice to say I turned back at that point.

I usually drive "out of hours" and so far have had little problem, despite having standard tyres with very light loading but tonight felt different under the car. Might be the thaw-freeze effect? Voe junction is always bad in my experience (bad slope) and more than once I have been going home and almost ended up in Tagon stores!

Dales Leas is usually best avoided in bad weather as the gritters concentrate on the via Brae route.

The road south of Lerwick until Quarff is quite treacherous with deep fans. A few folk were having sideways moments. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're in a 4x4
