I thought it was a common known fact, that in the earliest years of invasion by the Vikings, the women were killed and the men raped.

It was only after about another 50 years or so, that this was changed around, so to speak.

Perhaps Brian could confirm :?:

What, the women started raping the Vikings?!?

Did they use differnt stuff on torches this year?

We had to leave as the pain in our eyes was far too much, my partners face got burned as embers landed on his face and wouldnt go out, we all also have big holes in our jackets!

we saw allot of the squads eyes streaming too!!

So we missed the burning of the galley! :-(

other than that! beautiful as usual!

Yeh the fumes were pretty bad for all concerned, but I think it was just the wind making it worse and swirling it down more around the squads and spectators. Our eyes stung and our clothes stunk too. Half my photos are rubbish with amount of soot and ash in the air.

But what a fine night for it and a great procession, well done every one 8)

As for burning your jackets, not sure what you were wearing but nylon type walking jackets etc never go well with sparks, I left mine at home and alwares wear a more natural type jacket around flames/sparks.

2 down and more to come, hope the nights are so good for the rest. love it :D
